When did busting hookers and Johns engaged in mutually consenting behavior between adults (albeit illegal) become headlined as “human trafficking operations”

Is it to look more important? Or is there federal money involved?

It's possible that some of the hookers aren't actually doing this of their own volition

A lot of prostitution is supported by human trafficking. The girls frequently in it against their will or started out that way and then after time lose their will to fight.

I do a lot of anti-trafficking work and there is a very real connection.

Meh I usually read the articles 99% are standard solicitation or prostitution busts but they will still call it human trafficking, this is new within the last year or so, I thought it had to do with federal money. If they were worried about human trafficking it goes on thousands of times a day on the border

Keyword is mutual. Many of the female workers are not consenting. They get picked up and get booked. But some kind of fear, stops them from telling police. That fear could be many things.

It's a scam used to get a cut of the $60m dollars allocated for Human Tracking stings.

See Bob Kraft got example. They used the thinnest of qualifiers to get the green light to conduct the Human Trafficking investigation, which was a witness believe that people lived in the establishment. Turned out to be untrue since the women were Florida Residents. They used the Patriot Act to setup surveillance of adults being nude which most of the time didn't get sexual favors. When they did get sexual activities they couldn't prove solicitation as there was no sound. They didn't expect to be challenged on their findings when the arrests were made and hoped to bully to John's to confess and the ladies. Then they will all get paid fat bonuses

What happened was they got called out, taken to court and the whole thing got thrown out. All from a money scam perpetrated by the local Sherriff.

OP is correct and I got lambasted on the OT a couple of years back when I brought this up. One of the weird things about the OT is a sort of Groupthink and sympathy for “Human Trafficking” is one of those things. The government came up with this term and started promoting it and people bit on the hook hard.

I can’t explain it. Yes. Human trafficking happens but it isn’t the common occurrence they make it seem.

Well obviously no one is going to defend “human trafficking” but to call every little prostitution sting that is disingenuous and is an affront to actual human trafficking, that’s all I’m saying

I agree. We also did not have the large quantity of people being brought here along with the large quantity of drugs. The two usually go hand in hand

Or a cop but most sex workers aren’t out their on the own. Most have been forced since an early age.
If you ever get to review documents of a case you will hold your children closer.

I’ve notice the same thing in recent years. Sex trafficking is the new law enforcement boogeyman. No doubt there is real sex trafficking but no doubt there is also simple old fashioned prostitution.
