So after many years we are finally dropping cable but I'm wondering if I can still keep ESPN on X1 but drop the basic cable package.

We have the Hulu, Disney, ESPN+ bundle but I heard you can't watch the game Monday night on ESPN+ w/o ESPN.

My mom is 77 and she won't want to watch it online. We might be able to use our PC with USB to connect to our Samsung widescreen.

But the cable bill is due in 2 days and I'm not paying it just to watch the game. But she's disabled and just got out of the hospital on Monday for a pulmonary embolism and so going to a bar or restaurant is not a great option.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If mods need to move the thread I understand.

ESPN broadcast are not on ESPN+ unless you link a Hulu/Cox/Directv, etc. account.

ESPN+ alone will only have ESPN+ broadcast.

Yes, I have ESPN+ and you can't watch MNF on it.

If you have the Disney+ package you should have Hulu as well right? I think you can upgrade the Hulu package and you can get your local stations and I think ESPN.. But I know for sure youtube tv has ESPN.

If you have the money then just pay for it and let her watch, she damn near died.

If you're only worried about the game on Monday, you can probably get a free 7 day trial of YouTube TV, sling tv, or one of the other streaming services that include ESPN.

We'll probably do it for January and then get Hulu Live TV added to the Disney, ESPN+ bundle.

But we may only do that Hulu Live part of the bundle during college football season.

IPTV. Grab a Firestick and load it on there. I can't give you the specific names but Google it.

$10 a month for my service. Think of the biggest package with DirecTV and then add free PPV.

Legal? Well...

I'll definitely look into that.

Her damn Xeralto is $784.00 because she has Medicare and none of the medical coupons for xeralto work with Medicare. So we're trying to get her doctor to prescribe her something affordable like Whfarin because the refills are way too expensive.

Thank you for all the help everyone! Much appreciated!

Just fill it without using medicare... I have a couple prescriptions that are cheaper without using my insurance.

I am also pretty sure the patent is up on Xeralto so generics should be on the way.

Keep her away from Warfarin. She’ll have to get monthly blood tests. That’s a pain in the neck.

Alabama is the national champion. The game next week means nothing.

Georgia is going to beat the shite out of Bama.. Well they might not beat the shite out of them (although it will not surprise me if it happens), but if you think UGA is going to give Alabama the same looks on defense they did in the SEC championship you are crazy.

If UGA would have had to beat Bama to get into the playoffs, UGA would have won that game and then possibly lose to them in the playoff, but I watched UGA several times throughout the year and the defense didn't play nearly as good as they are capable of playing in the SEC title.. But they will throw everything at Bama Monday.

I don't know if I ever seen a defense like UGA has. Their linebackers look NFL ready. The DL can get to the QB quick, they have a good enough backfield to take advantage of the disruptions the DL causes.

meh...

long ago, I played that game with the satellite TV and the booted cards (gave you everything). Time comes that they figure it out and shut it down.

Much later, I did the Kodi thing, again it was great awhile and then got too much of a hassle to keep it running.

I keep Cox, mostly for live sports and (of course) their wifi to stream legit services (Prime, Disney+, HBO Max). That old coaxial service doesn't buffer or blip at the wrong time, and it's pretty stout in bad weather (I'm more worried about Entergy than Cox). I consider it a reasonable cost of living expense that I can afford. I know, I can save money if I cut the cords, but I cut corners elsewhere- my cars are paid off and my phones are 3-4 yrs old.

If your mom wants to watch MNF after coming home from the hospital, pay her bill. Think of it as a nice dinner, but instead of going to Stab's you cook for her, and she can watch TV for a month.

I know this thread is about ESPN, but FYI, you can get xeralto for $500 with a free GoodRX card. Call the manufacturer and they can probably help you out.
