To that add geology. You want to build a cathedral in Quebec, go quarry the stone within a day's walk. In New Orleans, plan ton getting your stone from Europe or from somewhere several weeks by barge up stream.

Malaria.

Heat stroke.

Timber differences.

Quality of fresh water, year round.

Wrong. Irish and German neighborhoods were pristine in the 50’s and 60’s, then they gtfo.
It was Johnson’s “great society” that decimated the inner city, took fathers out the households, then Nixon began war on drugs, Reagan put it on steroids, removed a generation or two of black fathers from the homes, and bam. Here we are.

Quebec managed to hold onto their language, while Louisiane can barely speak the one we adopted.
