Buy used, private party (preferably from an old person), pay cash.

Key item, if you can’t pay cash…you can’t afford it.

All you need to know is this. The less you spend on her car, the more you can spend on house hold necessities for the family...like a new truck!

Contact every dealership in a 4-500 mile radius and get them to send you a buyers are with their lowest possible price. Leverage them against each other to get the deal you want. I got buyers orders from Tampa to Grapevine TX on my last GMC. The cheapest place was Ross Downing, they were only avout $300 cheaper than Barker in Houma, so I ended up just going to Barker because they were closest.

Yep. Flew to Chicago last month to get a Bronco. It had every feature/color I wanted, nothing I didn’t want. Got it $8200 off MSRP

I love car negotiations.

I’m older but I always pay cash but don’t tell them until the last minute. Part of their process is making money off of financing. I only buy used vehicles now also.

You can split the finance incentive w/ them.

Usually 500-1000

Don’t bring her with you. Figure out exactly what she wants, go buy it yourself. The one time I bought a car with my wife present it was like she was working for the salesman

Or, get whole finance incentive, and pay it off before the first note.

Whatever you get, make sure it’s not an Audi.

Then if you are financing with them, prepare to the finance guy to hard sell you on lots of shite you don’t need

Last car I bought I was the last one on a Saturday evening and the finance guy had a year left until retirement. Ole baw didn't give a single shite because he wanted to get to dinner. Easiest of 4 cars I've ever bought. Only took as long as the computer to load each signature page.

Paying (or attempting to pay) cash has it's hurdles. Has to be a cashiers check( at least at the dealer we bought from). that's not happening on a Sat or Sunday and unless the deal has been finalized already in writing, I don't see the cashiers check happening.

so we just financed and pay off ASAP.

Prices sure have gone up since 2018. It’s double that on some vehicles

Just get their wiring instructions and give them to your lending institution. Easy Peazey.

As others have said do it all online and I mean via email don't even take a phone call. Find dealers within the distance you're willing to drive and play them against each other. Make sure to specify that you want the out the door OTD bottom line in writing.

Maybe if you are shopping that one car nobody wants.

Otherwise, they are happy to let you go and sell the next sucker that walks in or emails.
