There was a comment like this on Nola.com and some smart arse replied "which statues were removed on Saturday???" It's about the time and resources wasted for something that is nothing more than a distraction. New Orleans has major infrastructure issues, and like our last president the mayor is only focusing on social causes.

Social issues can and should be important, but leadership needs to address things that affect the day to day operations of a community.

To be fair, if they truly lost 80% of pumping capacity, they don't really have a choice today. The forecast on August 5th was for .25 inches of rain. Rainfall amounts are incredibly difficult to predict.

I don't think people can appreciate just how pathetic things are unless they saw the City Council meeting earlier this week. It should be required viewing in Political Grandstanding 101 and Government Ineptitude 100.
