All your life you are rushing to get places on a time schedule.
Get to school on time, to work on time, to meetings on time.
Then the cops looking to catch you speeding to all of those.

When you die, your time stops,,,,,,no rush to get anywhere,,,, time no longer matters.
And you get a police escort to get to the gravesite.

The deceased should not be in any hurry.

yes you are the a-hole.

You pull over and stop out of respect but think it is respectful to go and pass them all?

No. You are not the a-hole.

Some people take the stopping for funeral processions to extremes.

What if the procession wanted to cross the Causeway and do 25mph?

Drivers in Shreveport will come to a complete stop on the interstate if they see a funeral procession coming up behind them.

The amount of processions down airline highway on weekdays near rush hour astounded me. Sorry for your loss, I want to get home and take off my pants, not deal with your 32 vehicle convoy. On Airline!

NTA.

Every time I see a procession, I think of Smokey and the Bandit.

I've seen and been in funerals in Mississippi where every car around just stops driving and some people even get out. I had seen the same thing in rural Oklahoma so it may be a country thing.
Here I'm so used to seeing the poluce control traffic i don't think twice about the prossesion.

Whatever you do, don’t cut into a funeral procession to where the cops light you up and pull you over into an Autozone parking lot.

You never know, there may be an old man shopping there that likes 1911s.

I wouldn’t think so. My grandma’s funeral was in a different town than where our family plot is. The procession was about 45 miles at least 1/2 of it on a 4 lane highway. We had people passing us most of the time. None super fast but I never gave it a second thought.

After the last car, I start driving in the left-hand lane. Not fast, but enough to pass the procession. A car from the procession pulls over into the left-hand lane and blocks me and everybody else behind me from passing.

Yea don’t do that
