I had it happen to me once. I was pissed for a second, but had to laugh, because it was pretty damn funny.
I don't walk near puddles anymore

I guess that's a good enough reason for a person to lose their livelihood. Yeah, he's a dick, but to take away a person's job is a bit extreme I think.
Next, people will get fired for calling someone fat or cutting someone off in traffic. Social media is retarded.

That's not the same thing at all.
Would you want your employee doing that?
Yeah it's pretty funny from the outside, but I don't see how you can blame them for firing him

and if there's something like broken glass, nails or metal cans in the puddle?
Posted on 8/1/18 at 10:16 am to castorinho
They could've just demoted him from driving

I always say this when someone does something off duty and SJW’s hound the employer until they fire the guy like he committed a crime. BUT, in this instance he did it on duty AND in a van with the company logo. He had to go.

Maybe a 2 week suspension without pay? And make him pay for the individuals he harassed to replace damaged clothes or something?
Taking away a person's job is a pretty big deal. Bigger than some people getting wet. Yeah, it's a dick move, but dick moves happen all the time.
I'm not saying he should skate by without getting in some trouble.

it's about being an idiot, especially with company property. Do you think the company wants itself to be branded as a company that tolerates this kinda bs from its employees?
if you want to be an ahole like this, do it on your own dime.

Hahaha.
I did that to a pilot (major) a couple of years ago as he was waiting to cross the road.
Realized that I probably fricked up right after I did it as I was in my flightline truck and my call sign is on the windshield

I get that. I could go either way on this one I guess.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
It's pretty easy to not be a massive dickhead. Someone who can't reach that extremely low bar doesn't deserve a job.

It went viral and was on all the news shows. You don't think that weighed into the decision making a bit in this and similar stories?
With the social media outrage, the company had no option other than to fire him. That's the way it is now. If only the people involved knew of this, I believe the punishment could have been less.
I'm just being argumentative maybe...
Posted on 8/1/18 at 10:29 am to i am dan
i get your argument, but something like this, if i'm the owner...i'm kinda glad it was caught on cam. if my employees are out there being dickheads to the general public, all of which are potential customers, he's very liable to be just as bad to my current ones.

I want to believe he had truck nuts dragging behind him. Or van nuts.

Not in the least.

yeahhhh not a good idea to do that in company vehicles

I gathered that much, thanks. But that means it's a rear dash cam...so I'll rephrase...what kind of loser has front and rear dash cams AND takes the time to watch and turn into police for no illegal act?
