Scruffy. We have a new test on a NP swab that tests for like 12 different viruses in an hour. PCR based. Its done on a Filmaray instrument.

We havent seen much of either at my hospital this season...and I cannot remember the last time I admitted a kid with RSV.

My 6 month old was diagnosed with RSV about 9 days ago. She's completely better now though, so we're counting our blessings. 5 year old came home from school with a cold a few days before she started her symptoms, so I'm guessing he gave it to her.

This. My kid had it a couple of years ago and it triggered an asthma attack, which they had to be admitted to the NICU to treat. Eight days in the hospital sucks.

RSV is bad for kids that are 0-3, right? My son is 5 and he has a cough but it sounds pretty productive.

Agree. I thankfully haven't had to admit any kids yet. Only have had a handful of Flu A this week, but I think it's about to pop up more with the holidays and families being around each other.

It is getting worse every year it seems.
Really fricked with my second kid, or so I thought. When my third got it we stayed in the hospital. fricking bad. I was scared and he was only 3 months old and my wife stayed at home... Partly due to how sick the others stayed...
Here is a huge help.
For infants nose frida
For toddlers baby vac
These aspirators are amazing. They kept us out of the hospital for longer stays. My middle child had a severe relapse and with his heart issue could have been deadly. I suctioned him once an hour. Helped tremendously.

Different viruses and different locations affected in the airway.

Croup can actually be caused by RSV. RSV symptoms are basically bad cold. Croup is a specific barking cough, like a seal.
