This message needs to go mainstream. Like people that litter or drive under the speed limit in the left lane, this social infringement needs to be addressed.

Last night I was flying cross country and the lady in front of me (5 feet tall by 4 feet wide) sat down and rocked back her seat. Since I'm 6' 4" and can barely fit my legs into the seat as it is, having her fully reclined practically put her nasty, unwashed hair in my lap.

As my knees were touching the back of her seat, every time I made a move or leg adjustment I bumped her chair. Admittedly, after an hour I stopped trying to be careful and let my legs bang into her chair, especially after listening to her white trash smoker's cackle laugh as she recounted the story of her thigh tattoo to her unfortunate seat mate.

I could tell she was getting tired of me bumping her because after awhile she would try to turn her thick neck around and glare back at me but she could get a full 180 to face me. But I could tell she was getting aggravated. Good. I couldn't feel my legs from the knees down. Finally, she hit the flight attendant call button and asked if someone could "talk to the person behind her" who kept "kicking her seat". She never addressed me personally. I showed the flight attendant my leg space situation and that I had no way sit without occasionally bumping into the seat in front of me. I told her that maybe if the ham beast in front of me would recline her seat forward (she didn't need the leg room as she was not very tall), this wouldn't happen.

The flight attendant passed this along but the lady wouldn't move. So I bumped her fat arse all the way from Minneapolis to Spokane while she huffed and puffed. (I know, I know. A massive brawl didn't break out on the plane and the story is kinda anti-climatic but I'm not going make up a bunch of shite just because this is the OT.)

TL;DR: Stop reclining your seat backs on flights. It's rude as frick. And if you're fat, be fat in a dark closet in your house. Don't fly. Or be out in public. Thank you.

Obese people should not be allowed on flights. It's that simple.

If the seats recline, it's your right to recline. They paid for the seat. If it has an option to recline, why not exercise that option?

Just being devil's advocate in case Lunchbox is off today. Honestly I kick their seats if they come back on me. Had a jerk make me spill my whiskey on my laptop once. I wanted to go HAM. (but it's post 9'11 )

How about you grow a pair and politely ask her to not recline her seat?

At 6'4" you might consider a seat in 1st class for the room.

I always fly Southwest so we are always crowded like sardines. Don't think I've flown on anything bigger than a 737 with them. I never recline my seat back as a courtesy to those who are behind me.

frick you. My ticket, My seat. If the seat reclines (and it doesn't much) I'll make myself comfortable.

So, you could have been a gentleman, and pointed out your situation in a light hearted way...maybe even bought her a drink and asked her nicely.

Instead, you chose to deliberately bump her seat like a petulant child.

She paid for a seat that reclines. I'm not sure why you think you're entitled to take that right away from her.

You sound like a passive aggressive little bitch.

Why didn't you address the situation with the lady like a normal person?
