I agree too, but the method isn't what 90% of people are whining about. It's "muh history and muh flags" that the dumbasses are marching about.

These people won't stop at this statue. It's only the beginning. It's well withing the realm of possibility that these people will seek revisions to K-12 history curriculum. If they can't stand to see a statue, they certainly won't stand for a certain brand of history in their schools.

The statues will disappear, then they'll blame their problems on something else. Hell, they'll likely claim that tearing down statues doesn't go far enough.
