“It needs to be removed,” Loan Tran, an organizer, said earlier Monday. “These Confederate statues in Durham, in North Carolina, all across the country.”
There are similar monuments in several cities around North Carolina.
Tran doesn’t want to see it anymore.
“When I see a Confederate statue in downtown Durham, or really anywhere, it fills me with a lot of rage and frustration,” she said.
In her defense, the Confederacy wreaked havoc on the Vietnamese.

That is going to get some people killed.
This, then it will be time to take down all MLK street signs.

We need to now rename James Madison University and any publicly funded institution of learning named after Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. They were slave owners and should not be celebrated.
Apparently we need to erase and rename anything that is named after any southern man who breathed air and could catch a sunburn between 1700-1960

I see few, if any, blacks participating in the protest.

If you're going to lose a war at least be man enough to hide your tears when the victors come for your participation trophies.

I didn't lose anything, I just appreciate the history. I don't want to pretend it's Germany and pretend I'm ashamed of anything that happened.
I completely agree on some things. Bringing blacks here was a horrible, horrible decision.

Am I the only person laughing at them "kicking" a statue? Oh god, how amazing would that be if they fricked up their feet doing so.

Do you think history has changed because a statue is gone?
Posted on 8/14/17 at 7:29 pm to Collegedropout
So everyone that is upset about this what are you going to do??
Posted on 8/14/17 at 7:29 pm to Collegedropout
I have a hard time sympathizing with the losers of a civil war.

They really don't want to go down this road. It doesn't end well.
You destroy and desecrate the heritage of a people, don't be surprised when they start to hit back.
Imagine the uproar if they start tearing down statues they don't like.

It's modern day type of book burning. "Let's delete it because I don't like it", thing is, is its not going to end with just statues.
