Mine increased 75%... is this suppose to counterbalance the flooded properties?

Is your land value taxed at the same rate as the structure? They've got my lot valued at about 1/5th of its appraisal and my structure way over valued.
It's clear they just went off my mortgage amount from when we closed last year.

Ours is up 50% but the previous assessment was on the pre-renovation value of our home.

1/2 of my Neighborhood Flooded, my house didnt flood. My assessment dropped by 73,000. I am going call to let them know my house didnt flood.

So my house didn't flood and didn't go up any according to the letter. However I'm in the middle of a refinance and my home appraised for $70k more than what I built it at 3 years ago. My mother in law flooded and she got hers and her property went up. What the frick?

Mine was 165% of what I paid for the house 11 months ago. Fortunately I checked it on the website and had them readjust it.

Should I be happy that apparently they think my home went up in value by 12%?
Not unless you are planning to sell.

The problem with tax assessments are even though mine has gone up the value they have for my home is still 30% less than what I could actually sell the home for. They really have no rhyme or reason as how they assess. I really just think they pull numbers out of a hat to come up with an already determined dollar value for the whole parish.
In other words I think they are morons.

Go talk to someone at the assessor a office. But, prepare yourself for, "but sir, it's only a $x,xxx amount of increase." Frick ing gov hands.
Are y'all just getting notices or the actual tax bill? We had our time to protest, etc in September.
