I just take scissors to it every now and then. I trim the edges with a razor. I don't go with the full on wooly mammoth length but I keep it longer than what a set of trimmers can handle. It is pretty easy to get right with scissors.

Go to a proper barber and let them handle the first trim. Ask for guidance. It's okay to ask questions sometimes... Be sure to tip your barber at least 3.50

I just want to interject with 2 items.

I more than likely have the best beard on this website. It’s superfluous in all categories, length, color, fullness. It’s an all round 9.7

Why keep it up? Go full woodsman with it. Don’t be a puss.

Use clippers with a gaurd and trim downward from the top.

Trim?

I prefer to braid and rubberband.

Maybe some beads if I'm feeling festive.

I just did that…. Was trying to use new clippers from Christmas and messed up so buzzed it all off with no guard, now starting over

I don’t know who needs to hear this but…worrying about what does and does not constitute a beard in another man… is some woman shite.

Don’t be a fat pussy who grows a beard to cover neck fat.

I won't argue against this. I'm 44 and growing my beard for the first time. I do like the way it looks, but it's also great to not shave. I haven't touched a razor in two and a half months.

The norelco oneblade is good for daily trimming of unruly single hairs and around the month. To attack the whole thing monthly or so, just buy hair clippers and experiment with guards, start with the biggest and work you way down. The guard used for you neck may be different than the one for your cheeks.

My beard is so fabulous it won't be tamed by any hair gel or such products.
