My projections are that I'll be waking up next to Jennifer Lawrence next year.
Which projections do you think are more realistic?

Property taxes make way more sense than both.
So basically you pay off your home but you never own it because you pay property taxes every year. That's bs. You buy a car, you pay taxes on it one time. Sure you have to renew your registration but that's what $60,$70 bucks. If you don't renew your registration, at least the state can't confiscate your vehicle.

many that aren’t paying income tax now will still pay consumption taxes. It isn’t that simple.
Let’s just say you’re right (you’re not).
You’re in favor of the government getting more money, as long as the distribution of who pays it is better in your mind?
That’s fundamentally not small government

If you don’t pay your income taxes the state can pretty much confiscate whatever the hell it wants

The other option is they raise both like they always do.
The sales tax increase expires in 2029. You get the income tax break forever, hopefully moving towards zero.
Parishes have different taxes too, just move to the parish with the lowest sales tax.

This state is blood red.
You are retarded if you think this state is “blood red”. JBE just wrapped up an 8 year term and 1/2 the republicans in the legislature were once democrats.
If this state was “blood red”, we wouldn’t need to cut spending. We would have never overspent in the 1st place

So he raised taxes on everyone, great.
He lowered everyone who earns income though.
You guys keep missing the other half of the puzzle.

They aren’t even claiming that. That’s what’s crazy, they aren’t even lying that it’s a tax decrease. They are straight up saying it’s an increase and are getting “Republican” buy off because of the vehicle. Literally having their cake and eating it too

Yeah, I don't think that this small an increase in sales will cause poverty to increase. You are talking about going up .55% on purchases vs the existing sales tax.
If you are lower income and spend all of it on taxable items you are talking a negligible increase in taxes at best for the individual.
If you earned and spent $20k on taxable items the difference is $110 a year from current taxes. This does not take into account lower income tax.
Total tax for someone single using standard deduction would be up too small to matter for someone making $25k when you combine Income tax and Sales Tax. In total, it increases tax on this person by $0.95 per year.
