The Higher Education: The lamest generation: I can’t teach millennials – they refuse to take any responsibility for their learning, says an assistant professor. I’ve been cucked. All this time defending millennials, multiple blogs a day, for weeks, for months, for years. The self proclaimed King of the Millennials. Well egg on my face. Because never once did it cross my mind to dig up records from the early 19th century.
Barstool
The actual story is boring, but the good part are the documents that contained information about what teenagers were doing back in the 1700s.

Dueling with swords, getting loud and disorderly and getting kicked out bars, going to a dance class to pick up on women and the fighting the dance teacher after he/she told them to not dance with any of the girls.
That sounds like one hell of a night.
That sounds like one hell of a night.

Can you boomers stop bullying us? Wasn’t ruining the economy and forcing into student debt enough?

18th Century students were FAF. if millenials behaved like that I would have some respect for them.

Millennials got nothing on those 18th century men.
18th Century: Drinking, fighting, fricking
Millennials: Eating avocado toast, creating flash dance mobs, having less sex than ever
Scruffy agrees that they are an embarrassment.

Not as much has changed as you'd think. For instance, this guy still gets in sword fights, just a different kind.

Doesn’t sound like 18th C students would be crying about phantom racism or homophobia. They were too busy being awesome.

I know that this post will be susceptible to the "every generation says the same thing" criticism, and I might be wrong on that basis, but here goes:
The latest research shows that millennials are not the problem. Rather, it is the generation that comes right after them starting in 1995 called iGen.

The latest research shows that millennials are not the problem. Rather, it is the generation that comes right after them starting in 1995 called iGen.
quote:
Before we delve into the relevant datasets, we must note a crucial point: This debate is not about millennials in general over the past 10 years, it is about iGen college students after 2015. Many people seem to think that the millennial generation ends with birth years around 1998-2000, but several researchers studying generational trends have noticed elbows in the data—turning points—beginning with adolescents who were born around 1995. Jean Twenge calls the generation after the millennials “iGen,” for “internet generation.” She shows that they have higher rates of anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicide. They have a lower appetite for risk taking, and higher desires for safety. This generation first arrived on college campuses around 2013. By 2017, the millennials were largely gone (at least from the elite residential schools where most students come straight from high school and graduate in four years). So the key period of change, if there is one, is from 2013-2017.
quote:
The key transition year, if there is one, should be 2015. Before then, few Americans, and (as far as we can tell) few college students had heard of safe spaces, trigger warnings, microaggressions, cultural appropriation, and other terms and practices that are sometimes used to limit what some people can say, do, or wear (hence these practices are seen by many as illiberal). Those terms may have been common before 2015 on some of the most progressive campuses, such as Oberlin and Brown, but they were not well known on the vast majority of campuses. We (Jon and Sean) did not hear about them at all until 2014. They became nationally known during the student protests of 2015.
