I'd bet a small amount of money that it was a 1911.

I typically try to not leave guns where 4 year old kids can play with them at their own leisure.

Who said it was an accident? Kid was probably pissed she was using Jif instead of Peter Pan peanut butter.

"Jamie Gilt For Gun Sense"?

Not so much.

She is really, really lucky that she was shot instead of the kid killing himself.

I don't know how the kid got the gun, it doesn't say in the story, but she's really lucky the kid didn't shoot himself...

I wouldn't be so sure it was an accident. She had already said on her FB he loves to shoot so he knows what guns can do and how they work, maybe he is just a little crazy effer.

People will try to spin this to fit their agenda. But it doesn't change the fact that the best defense against a bad 4-year old with a gun is a good 4-year old with a gun.

This is the real issue. As ironic as this may be, it's really just a case of terrible gun safety. Obviously the child should have been in a car seat and not within reach of any gun, especially a loaded .45 caliber. Sorry but there are millions of responsible gun owners that teach their children proper gun safety. If you leave a child unsupervised near a loaded gun you're begging for someone to get shot. Thankfully the child didn't shoot himself.

Guns don't kill, nope. In this case very lucky as gun failed to do its intended job. Thank goodness.
