Very few boarders now.
I wouldn’t say my son loves it…but he’ll appreciate it forever.

There were some gravel pits in a neighborhood near our school and that's where you went to fight, drink, smoke. I only remember one fight in the actual school building and it was 2 ghetto chicks from Scotlandville that were part of the forced busing program at the tim
Yeah, the only on campus fights I remember were black girls.
We would take it off campus, do our stuff then forget it happened.

That sounds right, had monks not nuns.
Lots of Scots - Irish in the family so lots of fighters. Back in the day every Catholic school had a boxing team and a basketball team.
Was it damaged in a hurricane in the 1970's?

Tell me your thoughts about purple haired lesbians teaching your children.

I was taught by blue haired lesbians after WW II and it turned out pretty well.

Both have problems.
Private: Little Johnny gets in trouble. Parent’s response is, “Oh, my Little Johnny would never do that”.
Public: Little Johnny gets in trouble. Parent’s response is, “I ain’t got no Little Johnny “.
Both are problems, you just have to choose which one is easier to deal with.

My kids are in private. My wife went to private her whole life, I went public in EBR(back then). She did well and I flunked out, and not because I'm dumb. We sent my older daughter to public in Kindergarten(LP), and it became apparent she would end up having the same problems I had. Public school just moved too slow for us. Both of my kids are excelling now.

Central?

Most of the private schools around here for the 6-8th grade range are about 14 a year and get more expensive the higher the grade
That’s simply not true for the schools you listed. I have my kid in private school in Mandeville currently and it’s under $10k. The others we looked at were the same. BR and Nola are typically at the range you state.

BR & NOLA Catholic elementary (K-7/8) schools are not at $10K yet

I was paying 14k for the 8th grade the last year my youngest daughter went to private school. I think it started around 7k for K but it went up every year. I don't miss it

I went to catholic school for the whole 12 + kindergarten and we were poor as hell

went to private school K-8th grade and public 9-12. The education was fine at either place. Public school was certainly more of a general slice of humanity. This was in the suburbs in the late 80s to early 90s.

Those tend to do that - like Newman in NOLA, and maybe Country Day

Us, too - no money for expensive drugs like madamsquirrel said - heck, I couldn’t even join the dance team

You can find trouble at either if you go looking for it, and I did.

I sent my kids to both and they all graduated from the Baton Rouge Magnet High School. It fit them because they are biracial and musicians/artsy. But be aware that the GOVERNMENT schools will attempt to fully indoctrinate your children against everything you know to be true. So it depends on your parenting skills and bankroll among other things. If your personal views are aligned with your federal, state and local governments, then by all means, do it with them because it's "free".

I went to Episcopal. My Boys are in public in AP and the only thing I am concerned about is the lack of a college counselor. They are getting great educations.

My youngest daughter begged me to let her apply for the magnet program for high school so I eventually let her. The small, Christian private school environment was not a good fit for her. She actually likes it better.
You will get a good dose of left-wing politics but I talked to her about that beforehand.
