Well, that is not true.

Not Louisiana but in the southeast. We were expecting to have to eat the two months of tuition so we were happy to get a month credit.

You guys have explained it numerous times, but I still can't get my head around why LA communities don't demand better public schools
It would be racist to do so.

I’ve already made our school aware that I’m not paying tuition until they are back in class
If you haven’t changed schools then we are at the same school. Glad to hear someone with the same opinion.

We can demand until we are blue in the face, but the fact is you can't win a battle against the ugly two fronts that generally are what ruin schools.
*Shitty parent(s) that think schools are a glorified daycare that provides their children free meals.
*A red tape filled school board, etc. They are pathetic in many instances and there really isn't much that can be done.

No way I am paying those absurd private school tuition(s)
Meh, I will do anything to give my kids and edge and are put into a position to win at live. We paid $4600-4800 a kid for grammar school and between $9,000 and $10,000 for high school.
It is what it is.

I heard the same thing. Someone told me that Zachary had some plans in place and one of the plans was to go back to e-learning if a student tested positive. I haven't read it anywhere so I considered it as hearsay. It could have come from some facebook BS post and passed along, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.
I believe schools are preparing for e-learning, but this is so insane. Are employers going to keep letting people work from home forever?

Yes we are. I’m also on advisory board

My kids are in private in south Florida. It’s very expensive down here and I think they were hemorrhaging students for next year for a few weeks there due to e learning that was pretty basic and simplistic over the past few months. They came out with a significantly more robust program should it come to that next year. Approximately 4-5 hours a day of actual live learning on the computer as opposed to one with a bunch of independent assignments.

states will offer a general e-learning option

No such thing as a good public school

Isn’t Loyola’s tuition over $50k a year?

I never understand people who pay all this money to private schools for subpar education.

It’s not the schools that are better, it’s the students and parents that are

Most people do, but...
1) Our school finance system is completely screwed up because of the massive homestead exemption. The vast majority of school funding comes from the state. There are also a ton of mandates from the state.
2) Most school boards are either A) complete rubber stamps for the administraion or B) Opportunities for school board members to try to exert some insane level of power, especially when it comes to contracts
3) Most parts of the state are either A) Poor and Urban or B) Poor and Rural. Poor and good education struggle to go well together.

When many companies realize how much money in rent and overhead they can save? Yeah. At least multiple days a week if not full time

So you are saying all private schools are subpar?

Nah those moms would lose their shite if they did
Posted on 6/8/20 at 3:16 pm to yellowfin
That's even a stupider reason to justify it. But maybe I under estimate the shittyness of LA schools. In North AL it'll be silly to Send your kid to a private school when a lot of the public schools downright blow them out of the water in academic achievements & athletics. Yet some parents still believe private schools are the Holy mecca of education. Sometimes it's more about the child than the school.
