always thought LSU had a good reputation so this was a bit of an eye-opening experience to me.
really......really? I'm happy with my experience and hope I'm a decent ambassador for the LSU alumni "reputation", but I hope my kid aims higher. I didn't know any better. Going to college was all my parents cared about and I picked LSU because it seemed fun and I always followed sports. Never once thoght about applying anywhere else (besides LaTech, but knew I wouldnt go there). Really wasnt a great reason to choose a place that determines the rest of your life. The guys I work with who went to Georgia Tech or Stanford definitely got more attention. Yes, I got the same job as them with my LSU degree, but there's no doubt their resume got looked at before mine.

My favorite thing on TD. When a guy corrects someone’s grammar and makes a mistake while doing it. Just doesn’t get any better. I’m assuming with over 130k posts you would understand. I see you are putting that “prestigious” degree to work!

Didn’t JBE threaten to cut LSU funding?

Yep, along with TOPS. Actually, threatened to shut down LSU for part of the Spring Semester in 2016. Used the potential loss of LSU football (because players would not be academically eligible) to get what he wanted.
But that doesn't fit with Truth's "facts".

Obsession for cutting funding for higher ed?
Do you even realize that the damn constitution makes this so? You and your clowns made secondary ed, health care, and other crap off limits to budget cuts so when times are tight, higher ed and other areas of government take a much larger cut than they normally would.

Unless he's getting a free ride to LSU and nothing from any of the other schools, he's making a stupid decision. What do his parents think?UT, Rice, Duke, UVA and the like are in a different stratosphere compared to LSU. Disclaimer: I'm a successful LSU grad.

You'll see posts on here that say something like "I went to lsu and I make 200k", as if that discredits the advantages of going to a better school. It's pretty dumb.

Tell him to go to LSU, kick arse academically, then get admitted to top notch school for his MBA.

Oh, the buzz about a guy from a prestigious school went far. We had to build a reputation as a good employee. They were treated like a high profile employee from the get go and the reputation was theirs to destroy. And rightfully so. LSU sends dumbasses into offices every year at a much higher rate than those institutions.

Top 5% kid from LSU can compete with anyone. Especially in Engineering, Sciences, etc.

OP, if your nephew was a Tiger, he’d have kicked those snobby bastards asses and then fricked their girlfriends.
Perhaps he’d be better off at a school more suited to his delicate disposition.

Positive peer pressure... one of those rare instances

Tell him he has to do what's best for him, not what his friends decide is best for him. Tell him anyone that gives him shite for following his dream isn't really a friend.
He has a choice, he can stand up and be his own man or he can be a little bitch and bow to pressure from people he will probably only hear from once every few years after they graduate.
