Employee arrested after drugs found in prison
Information provided by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office
BATON ROUGE, LA -- A former prison employee was arrested today for bringing drugs into the parish prison.
Christopher Washington, 27, is charged with Distribution of Mojo (Synthetic Marijuana), Distribution of Methamphetamine, Bringing Contraband Into a Penal Institution and Malfeasance in Office. He was employed at the prison for approximately nine months.
According to reports, prison administration received information that Washington was in communication with persons outside of the prison concerning picking up narcotics and tobacco for inmates inside the prison. Detectives received information that Washington was scheduled to make a delivery of drugs into the prison today.
During an interview with Washington this morning he admitted that he was bringing Mojo and tobacco on behalf of at least three inmates for payment. He admitted that he was promised to be paid $1,000 per transaction, but had only received $150 to date.
Detectives searched Washington’s vehicle and discovered Tobacco 668.2 grams,
Mojo 94.4 grams and Crystal Meth 7.5 grams.
Washington was terminated from the prison and booked on the above listed charges. The investigation is ongoing and charges against the inmates are pending.

Honest question though in situations like these, how do the employees in on the scam actually get paid? Do the prisoners call to family members and tell them to meet up "on the outside" with the dude for payment?

I don’t understand how these people think they won’t get caught. Same for guards who bang inmates.

Now he’ll be taking a delivery. And it won’t be drugs.

Who? The guard who expected payment or the inmates that actually paid him?

FIFY
I am shocked that these dummies don't realize it is going to take about one minute for the inmate to turn them in so they can get some time off their sentence.

I work with a former corrections officer from up North. He said up there, outsiders kill birds and stuff them with drugs, then throw them over the fence at night.

Lots of different ways but this is how they get you. $150 to bring in a pack of cigarettes. Sounds like easy money. You do it and then the inmate has you. He tells you to pick up another package for him or he is gonna snitch on you for the first one. He'll play it cool and say its the last time and that youll even be paid for it but you cant refuse because he has the dirt on you now. Then eventually other inmates get in on it.

You can send money out electronically at most jails. Also a lot of jails have iPads for inmates and you pay by the minute. Jails are money makers.
