We are refugees from Laura living 2 miles from our gutted house in LC. Our apartment rent was $1,400.00 before insurance picked up the bill. Went to $2,400.00 for insurance and now they want $4,400.00/monthly rent. Insurance balked so we will be evicted January 26th since it will be open for them to lease on that date.
Anyone else dealing with price gouging in LC?
Calling Landry’s office Monday morning and kplc so my cover might be blown now.

Sounds like easy price gouging if you have paperwork to show your original rent agreement.

GC estimated 3-4 months for move in and this pace won’t be a problem leading. I wish it was a house, 3/2 apartment at the springs of country club.

Apartment at a CC, is the unit privately owned or part of a complex?

Did you have a month to month agreement?

Burn that bitch down right after you get all of your stuff out.

Seriously that sucks. So if you are evicted, they will continue to charge $4,400 a month. Do you think they will be able to find renters willing to pay that price?

It’s insurance companies paying it, and yes.

pretty sure that's illegal. We are still in declared emergency. I know in my line of work, it's highly illegal to raise our prices when in the middle of declared emergency

First lease was 4 months but they won’t offer another 4 month lease. This is a yuge company out of Florida with multiple properties.

Do call Jeff Landry.

Also find out if eviction moratoriums are in place because of covid.

No such thing in a truly free market.

As was mentioned previously, demand is high and supply is low. If you bitch about this, don’t ever call yourself a free market conservative again. You are literally begging the government to bail you out from the free market.

Sorry about your situation and your lowlife landlord. This story is right up Christina Arceneaux’s alley. I hope it gains traction so other people can’t be taken advantage.
