So, I think this is what confuses/angers people
A few Monday’s ago, school was cancelled and the weather was nothing like this. This was legit treacherous on the way home for busses/kids
Honestly, the worst storms/flash flooding events recently all seem to be events that completely went unspoken about here and by the weather men
The one a few years ago on the drive into work in Nola was nuts and completely not talked about

Our backyard in Abita has flooded more than it ever has living here for 8.5 years. Our ditch will rarely get more than 3-4” but right now it’s at around 20”.

Not yet 2016 level in my area of Covington; if continues like this through 10pm it will get really interesting.

The link I gave you will give you any *working* weather station that reports to the NWS. It isn't going to spell it out for you, you have to pick the station closest to the area you're interested in and look at the data.
Here's one with a map:

Move it to the area you want, zoom in, pick the location.

Abita area wasn’t as bad as western Covington in 2016

Showing 7.5” in my gauge in downtown Covington.
Posted on 1/24/24 at 5:36 pm to LegendInMyMind
2.79" at the Covington site
6.26" for Mandeville
4.98" for Bush
3.55" near Camp Covington
4.83" at the other Covington location
5.55" at Abita Springs
4.10" at TCHEFUNCTA RIVER AT LA 40 NEAR FOLSOM
4.84" at another Covington area site
That's over the past 24 hours. I question the main Covington report. It seems low, but I haven't looked closely at a radar loop.

I was in downtown Covington just from 1:30-2 today for a meeting. It got close to 2” of rai. just during that 30 minutes alone

I believe it. From 1-5 was pure buckets

Bogue Falaya River at Boston St. is lagging quite a bit behind its projected rise currently. FWIW.

Wasn’t even raining when I first got there around 1:15. When I left at 2 the streets were flooded right off Columbia
Posted on 1/24/24 at 5:43 pm to lsupride87
Yeah, that first one isn't right. The one just to its south is at 4.76".

If you all want an easy way to track the weather station sites, download an app just called "wX". You can check everything from the app without going to the website.
I think it has a different name, maybe, on Apple. It is just "wX" for Android, though. It has more useful weather stuff than most people will ever need. The weather.gov observation sites are under "Misc" on the app.
