Hopefully, those who solely subsist on welfare will not receive any $. If you don't have an income apart from money from the taxpayers, then you won't have any disruption in income and your cost of living will not increase.

So then why do people call Sanders a socialist when he only wants to nationalize healthcare... which is already partly nationalized for potions of the populace.
Bernie calls himself a socialist and than he uses market economies (Norway, Sweden etc) as his examples of ideal, socialist utopias. He doesn't even understand his own political ideology. They might be big government nanny states but they aren't socialist

Fair enough.
I'd agree up to the extent of his judicial appointments which come straight out of the Federalist Society's Top Ten Hit Parade.

And we'll be paying for this shite for years. Which is why we've been saying all along it's a terrible idea to shut the country down. I'm curious to see how the "small government conservatives" rationalize this one.

In case you haven't seen them, these are the guidelines that were handed down by the White House the other day: LINK
At the bottom it says:
quote:
In states with evidence of community transmission, bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms, and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregate should be closed.
I realize there are people with strong anti-government sentiments, but I think such concerns are not warranted when you have an actual global health crisis. This is not some kind of pretense to enact a police state. shite is apparently so bad even Trump is listening to the scientists. A fairly sobering thought.

I just don't believe the price down the road is going to be less than the price paid up front. Sometimes you just have to suffer through stuff. It may be bad, it may not. If it's bad, it's not going to matter much anyway.

Seems like an idiotic idea.

This is what makes all of this so funny. He's a dem, hated by dems. They don't know what to do and it's glorious.

Hypocrites, the whole lot of them.

it’s terrible and I don’t want it to happen / hope it doesn’t happen. how’s that for rationalization?

Apparently the White House was convinced by the recent UK study that said, without these extreme measures, almost one million people in the U.S. would die. I don't know if that includes just from the virus itself or also collateral deaths from an overwhelmed health care system.

to be fair, the reason this is so bad is b/c the "scientists" (CDC) completely fricked up the start of our federal response
Posted on 3/17/20 at 12:49 pm to TT9
they haven’t even had time to respond or give their opinions on the matter publicly yet.

That justifies creating even more debt and digging the hole even deeper?

Yay. More redistribution of wealth.
