I hear you and my family doesn't need the check, although we will probably qualify, but there's a lot of my family members who work in the service industry and their companies are closed down. Like most Americans, they have no savings at all and no access to liquid. I've been trying to calm them to let them know that you don't have to worry about paying your bills right now. There will be deferments on everything.

Then I’ll drive up and slide my check under the door.

They said it's going to be checks directed to low and medium income workers

Everyone that was sent home right now has an effective income of zero. Who knows if companies are going to continue to pay salaries and wages with severely reduced earnings?

Yeah I would rather this go to the people who got laid off because the restaurant they work at is closed indefinitely.

I’d rather it be a tax credit so that only people who pay taxes benefit

Are all the white nationalists on the poli board who supported Andrew Yang and the UBI excited about this?

Such a bad idea. Rather than money, give vouchers you can exchange for personal needs. Money will be wasted by many, then their hand will be out again.

I think we're talking about the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. It was a tax rebate.

I misremembered the amount. It was $300 for individuals, $600 for couples.

Ring any bells?

hh, I like it, but I like it for specific folks who need it.

I knew a lot of people who fraudulently got FEMA checks then went and got new flat screens the next week.

In a macroeconomic sense, buying a flat screen has the same effect as buuing groceries. It gets money circulating.
