Any Baws want to hook up at Sonic, split a Route 44 Cherry Lime-aid and a footling? Afterwards we can chase some sharknados.

rt3/ Duke/ Legend

I’ll just copy from my previous post…

I’m offshore and my wife and three kids are about 200 yards east of I 59 right in the middle of Hattiesburg. I’m trying to get them to head down to Biloxi to my folks house just to be on the safe side

I was reading last night it here and I didnt like what I was seeing. Still looking bad for Hattiesburg? Explain it to me like im 10, lol. Ive learned a few things from these threads and can read Radarscope pretty decently. Not sure what a lot of it means, but I can normally spot the trouble areas. What should I be looking for and why does it always seem that from like the north shore, Bogalusa, Hattiesburg, Meridian line always get hammered by these?

ETA for EBR parish? Gonna have to be out and about today until around noon, but don’t want to get caught in it.

The models are showing sometime between 2 and 4pm, but there is a chance some rain bands are ahead of the main line, so maybe stay in if you can.

Me wondering why they canceled school for my kids after we get a decent strong line of storms come through with a tornado warning or 2 to my north. Usually seems to be what happens.

I heard Tuscaloosa cancelled school at 11 am today lol

Should be good there. Baton Rouge area seems to be in it from around 3-6 in all the radar runs.

Yea we will get some shite weather but I don't see us being under tornado watch for the full 4 or 5 hours they were predicting yesterday. Hopefully it moves through quickly.

Agree. Hope we correct. Hard to see the amount of rain (5+ inches) that was originally forecasted. Maybe farther north where the line is much wider.

Mostly a rain event so far today.

It’s pouring hard here and 62 degrees. Hardly tornado weather it’s not even thundering but there’s about to be a break in it and some nasty stuff down around monroe that could ramp up if it heats up any

Yes. Southern Mississippi up through I20 has the most risk today imo. Daytime heating and time for cells to mature as they run NE. All the other technical stuff I look for will be in place in abundance.

What should I be looking for

Cells in front of the main line taking a path that would threaten Hattiesburg. Everything is in place for them to spin up fast. Doesnt mean they certainly will, but Id personally be very quick to move to safety if one of those is heading my way, warned or not.

Also cells that look like they might run a little to the north. Could see some take a bit of a right turn, though those will certainly have a warning on them by that point.

Windy as all hell here probably 20-30 mph straight outta the south. Very little rain in Alexandria as of now.

Thanks Duke

Any reasoning as to why that corridor from Bogalusa, Hattiesburg, Meridian get hit so hard all the time? Or is it a luck if the draw type deal?

I wouldn't be shocked to see the moderate risk expanded even a little further east. If you look at the HRRR, it seems to have the best initialization of discrete cells occurring right along the AL/MS border. That area is just inside the moderate risk, but you would think they might expand it even further east if this idea continues.

Current SPC outlook:

Yes but its more detailed than I want to get into right now.

The really short version is you typically get the severe players moving that direction, kinda ENE to NE and get away from the coast where things can be a little more stable. Storms like to fire in SELA, cook for a little as they run NE and eventually get spinning as they run up 59.

Im with you RTR, the HRRR has been hitting on those since last night and the dynamics are there for problems.
