I’m surprised they didn’t put a high risk over areas of southern Mississippi around Hattiesburg.

Hattiesburg always seems to be under the gun on days like this
And im offshore with a wife and 3 little ones about 200 yards east of I-59 right in the middle of Hattiesburg. Im trying to convince them to go down to Biloxi to stay with my folks. It never fricking fails with theses storms. Theres going to be 3 or 4 cells southwest of them around Bogalusa, Baxterville, Lumberton, etc. that are going to be heading northeast, right at them.
I was reading last night it here and I didnt like what I was seeing. Still looking bad for Hattiesburg? Explain it to me like im 10, lol. Ive learned a few things from these threads and can read Radarscope pretty decently. Not sure what a lot of it means, but I can normally spot the trouble areas.

I can’t explain it like others here can. Just that all the values and parameters come together around the northern half of the Baton Rouge metro area, East to the north shore, and north to just south of Jackson and over to Hattiesburg. That’s the area most likely to see severe storms and possibly tornadoes.
WHY? I’m not smart enough to explain but that’s what I’m reading.
Actually, just as I posted that, this was posted on stormcast.

Tornado watch just issued for all of SWLA. What are you weather fellows expecting for the Lake Charles area?
Me wondering why they canceled school for my kids after we get a decent strong line of storms come through with a tornado warning or 2 to my north. Usually seems to be what happens.

Looking at the radar, and unless there is something behind that line, it looks like it will pass over LC quickly. We are barely catching the bottom tail end of the line.

And thats how it always is with these
I want someone to explain it and what I should be looking for so I can keep an eye on this, because I know the wife isnt.

Since I posted, I checked out the future cast radar. Doesn’t look too bad for us. We are right inside (or right outside) the southwest corner of the higher probability area. As you stated, we may be on the southern end of the line when it passes here.

Yea we will get some shite weather but I don't see us being under tornado watch for the full 4 or 5 hours they were predicting yesterday. Hopefully it moves through quickly.

So the tornado probability map represents percentages of what?
Also what’s with the dotted lines on the map?
Sorry I’m ignorant on all this stuff.

15 to 20% probability that there will be a tornado within 25 miles of any location in that area.
The experts here can explain better, but BTR probably only gets maybe 1 or 2 of these 15% areas a year.

People on stormcast forums are getting all bent out of shape over others saying that it won’t be too bad in sela
Those old fricks want chaos so bad!

My mom just had both breasts removed after cancer. I’m sure that’s not very sanitary.

Didnt expect the expansion west of the moderate risk.
Ballgame doesnt look changed for SELA, that line will probably put down some hail and straight line winds. Embedded tornadoes also likely but will ramp up and down pretty quickly within the line. Could be EF1-EF2 types, so take a tornado warning seriously.
Watching for cells ahead of the line. I think the biggest risk for that ends up along and north of US 190. Most likely they dont really get going until they get into Mississippi.

Hattiesburg / Yazoo / Meridian / Tuscaloosa corridor along with N AL from south of the shoals to west of Huntsville are about as high frequency for bad storms as anywhere in the nation outside of OK City / Moore.
It just never fails that if something is gonna go down those areas are under the gun.

Nick Mikulas is on Facebook Live covering the storms... he sees something right near 1 of the radar sites (I missed him saying which 1 but I would assume Ft. Polk) that he thinks could draw a tornado warning in a bit
