Prefered wheels, analogue 2012 pickup, or digital 2023 minivan

Thats my two vehicles and I greatly like the truck over the minivan. The minivan tries to present far too much useless information on the touch screens, has far more interlocks than necessary and is a royal distraction while driving. Every three months the computer demands a Bluetooth update via wifi. And it hollers at me for not holding the steering wheel correctly.
The truck is a commercial model, which means limited bells and whistles and the only computer is the engine control module.
I predict 10 years from now the truck will have a higher resale value

Most guys are gonna say no chance but i know when i got my ex a minivan cause that’s what she actually wanted with having 2 kids at the time and expecting the 3rd over 7 years ago, the minivan she drives had more stuff and options in it than any of the fully loaded SUVs at the time.
I know that sounds crazy but it was actually impressive all the stuff it came with.
And of course back then even with TTL, that van was like right at $40,000 while the loaded SUVs were at like 75-80k
If you are cool with driving one, you can get a ton of stuff in one for wayyyyyy cheaper than the same stuff in a truck or SUV

I would love to have a no frills pickup. I would rather shoot myself than drive a minivan.

the wife drives a wheel chair, polio 75 years ago, so the minivan was the best fit to put a chair lift in the back and low enough for her to get in. The car frame is not an issue, its all the useless digital crap

If you’re getting the minivan you have to make sure to never ever road rage. Nothing looks more pathetic than a middle aged white dude driving a minivan road raging like a fool.

My wife (no pics) was fervently a no minivan type. But anytime we’d go out of town and rent one, it was such a temptation to want one. If you have little kids, I’m telling you - it is a great thing. There is no end to the advantages of sliding doors and a low chassis for them to enter the thing.
We eventually got one and rode it for a good 5 years. Her heart was always in a bigger SUV though so we’ve since upgraded. But new minivans - when the purpose serves you - are an unrivaled convenience...

Analogue. I plugged my laptop into the OBD-II port and started changing stuff immediately after I bought my 21? One of the reasons I bought a diesel is so I didn't have to worry about buying a new vehicle after all the forced eye-tracking tech gets put into vehicles (news flash: 50% of car riding elementary kids will not get picked up from school if that goes into effect.
Disable *all* telematics on the MV, don't update anything. The updates, are almost never beneficial to you. It's Honda or Toyota trying to figure out how to find more data to sell.
If you want better seats, or CarPlay, in the truck, just bring it to a shop and ask.

Over the years I have grown more attached to digital gizmos but I can still get along fine with an analog vehicle.
I see both minivans and PUs as tools that I would only drive if my life necessitated them. It would be a tough choice for me because without kids in the house I hate the idea of a minivan and trucks are just too slow, boring and have horrible user-controlled active safety. If forced I would likely pick the minivan and I am not sure why, ask me again in 30 minutes and I will probably give the opposite answer.

That pic from Kjnstkmn was nice.
Trucks are not slow. People that drive them, especially diesels, are slow AF. A friend lent me a 250, and I could spin the tires on the regular at a stop sign. I bought mine, got the right axle ratio, and accelerate to the speed limit without undue delay. Most don't, especially owners of diesels. They're figuring out where their next job is, wondering when their chick from Victoria is going to get to their hotel, etc.
Always the f*$@# phone, no matter the truck/car or model. it's the user. There is a saying from old school IT, PEBKAC. Problem exists between keyboard and chair. That's driving.
At least looking at Crutchfield tells you what is possible in your vehicle without excessive customization. Check it out, ask the custom shop about it. They may have a better idea, OP.

That new minivan will be a bit*h to fix when the warranty expires. I would take the truck. I won't sell my 2010 4Runner because of this.
While they were subpar when they came out. RAM still sells the "Tradesmen" which is basically a brand new 2012 RAM.

Even my 2020 ram compared to my wife's 22 suburban is a big jump. My truck has the touch screen of course, but no lane keep assist, automatic braking, etc.
Hers pisses me off driving it with all that crap jerking the steering wheel and slamming on the brakes.

We've had everything from an old Accord to a Sequoia, with multiple SUVs and a Sienna. You have to think of the van as practical. In the van, I could lay down the back row and take the middle row of seats out and I had a space large enough to load drywall and sheets of plywood without having to get them up into a truck bed. I hauled so much furniture in that thing over the years. It was a legit 8+ foot long area. Then in about 5 minutes have it set back up to seat 8. No it wasn't as cool to drive as the Sequoia, and it didn't get as good gas mileage as our Highlanders, but it got a carpool full of kids to school and was great on long trips. My only gripe with it was the drivers seat got uncomfortable after about 3 hours. You'd think something geared towards road trips would have better support in the drivers seat.
That being said, I hate all the digital stuff. My wife's current Highlander has too many things in it. Radar cruise control that slows you down as you start approaching a vehicle on the interstate. Maybe I wanted to stay in the right lane until I got close enough then get to the left and pass it, but somewhere around 15-20 yards away it will start to match the speed of the one in front of you. Just another little annoyance you have to deal with when driving it.

Slow is relative, the TRX barely breaks into the reasonably quick area in my mind. What is worse is the braking and handling. The average new truck takes ~190-210ft to stop from 70mph. That's over 40 feet longer than something as mundane as a Camry and 50 feet or more longer than a car with good brakes. I understand why people drive them and some people have to but they have the worst ability to avoid accidents of any passenger car except large SUVs which are also handicapped with excess mass.

But, I’d go for the truck bf a minivan just on the principle that I’m not a pwussy. Sorry if that’s harsh.
Only a true pussy let's the vehicle they drive define them.

We're putting too much useless shite in vehicles which drives the cost up. It's like putting an iPad on a refrigerator. Yeah, the compressor only lasts 4 years but look at your iPad.

My 2017 truck doesn't have a touch screen or anything. Just a 2 knob radio, AC, power windows. Nothing fancy. I don't think to myself while driving it that I wish it had all kinds of warnings on the dash.

I was coming to say, there's still some analog vehicles out there, the 4Runner being one of them. Your 2010 interior/controls will be practically identical to our 2019 4Runner, and even the 2024 isn't anything revolutionary. Still all knobs and buttons for everything, ours even has a manual transfer case for the 4x4, no big infotainment screen to navigate, etc. Keyless start, while available, is still only available in a small percentage of 4Runners sold.
