annuities, treasury bonds, very conservative and safe investments at something like 3-4% return.

With that coin, you create a trust that supports a family for 4+ generations.

I'm buying TD with my winnings and . . . banning Tennessee fans (freakin' hillbillies - I hate 'em), creating a Game of Thrones board, and posting photoshopped pics of various coach's wives all day - starting with Ms. crazy Kristi Malzahn.

Rough 3% capital gains, after tax, on 115MM is 3MM per year.

Every year that you let the govt keep that money is money that you do not get to realize.

This seems high. What is the lump sum amount? Because you are going to get 60% of that.

Isnt there a 5% lottery tax in Louisiana

Power Ball is $510,000,000 which means they have sold 5 Billion total tickets since the last win. 5 Billion..... Think about that

You have a year to claim the prize. I'd use that year that establish residency in Texas.

Pretty sure it's 180 days.

That can't be right. The odds of not having a winner having sold that many tickets are astronomically low.

EDIT: I say that assuming a low number of drawings. If there have been a lot of drawings, I stand corrected.

I am buying 1 ticket.

I would lump sum out at much higher rate than you since Tennessee has no state income tax.

Lump sum. If I maintain half of my current rate of return I'll be worth 1.5 billion at age 55.

Based on 50% taxation for the income bracket, an a 3% ROI of the winnings, $6,700 per day is what you could spend without touching the money you invested.
