Anyone under 50 has an automatic distrust of information.

"Lies lies lies" is their starting point.

So they accept the truth they are most comfortable with catapulting from nurture.

Their noetic structures can't comprehend possible alternatives.

That's why we are where we are today. People are so afraid of lies they have come to fear absolute truth itself.

Yes. Its gameday.

It's because people are, fundamentally, lazy. In any reasonable universe, people would research every issue down to primary sources before forming a decision. But, because people are lazy, it's easier to just use heuristics. It's not new. The only difference is that in modern times, the opinion of the average idiot matters due to the default form of government being a republic or democracy.

My generation knew we were being lied to and were skeptical of everything.

I love being told that I'm brainwashed by the media by a far leftist. Like 99% of the information presented on the news, in movies, online, etc isn't given a heavily liberal bent. I think journalists from the Watergate era would be horrified to see what has become of how information is disseminated to the masses in this century. Even by choosing not to run a story, they are controlling what people believe. Social media is destroying our society, part of which is on mainstream media giving voice to a loud but small minority and making it seem like more people think like them.

The great thing about the internet is we have more information available to us than ever.

Unfortunately most of its wrong, and even any truth is twisted by true believers.

We aren't being led by the learned, but by the devious.

Nah, more information means nothing. People usually only find more information if they are SEEKING it given today's monetized driven algorithms.

But the majority of people don't seek information outside their known paradigms therefore they end up "finding" information that supports their preconceptions.

Hence the term "echochamber"

Which is great for our overlords because it keeps us divided and easier to subjugate thereby allowing them to syphon our money ala the matrix battery analogy.

And its NOT religion that's the culprit from what I've seen, it's the desire to help and understand others while the foundations of religious understandings and unity are under attack

Your point of distrust is valid but your basis of origin is off. There is no age group or generation in which this affects more than the other and it starts with Religion and the belief in some almighty sky magician making the calls.

The problem with religious beliefs is this, belief in anything can only be good if your principles are based on fact and not delusion. Otherwise your belief system can be a hindrance to recognition of the truth when it is presented. So if what you believe to be true is not backed up with facts...then you can easily dismiss truth when it is backed up with facts. This leads to tremendous societal ambiguity of people thinking what are facts? What can be known? They will then believe that actual truth and feelings of what is true are one in the same...they are not!

the very fabric of the universe is relative though...application of the laws of physics depend greatly on the positional nature of the observer

I very much believe that “truth” is a human construct that was required for society to develop. Unfortunately the universe doesn’t really work that way. The more we learn the more we see that what we were sure was true is not at all

I think it goes back further than Gen-X. The Boomers were the first generation born into the Cold War. There were challenging times that damaged the trust people had in the government and the nature of society. The political drama didn't help, either.

I am not exactly sure what you are trying to get at, but lets start with the Greatest Generation (born between 1901-1929. For in WWII).

They grew up in a more simple time in which the great depression shaped who they were. All they had was someone's word. That's what their parents had to go by during the great depression. A hand shake. They came to appreciate everything they had.

After WWII, into the 50s when technology improved, more companies were being started.. Corporate America became more influential.. Business became more complex. In a sense, it became more of a game. To put it more simple, there was a lot more "bluffing" taking place. And people started to realize there were times when they had to either call someone's bluff or bluff as well. So it created a more "untrustworthy" culture I guess you can say.

But life is one big poker game. You either...

- Have all the chips and use them to get more.
- Have all the chips and lose them others
- Have all the chips and be conservative
- Have some chips and use them to get other people's chips
- Have some chips and lose them all trying to get other people's chips
- Have no chips and no longer in the game.

Clicks, likes, and views. That’s what the world revolves around now. It’s really simple in my mind. These news outlets can release an article, the headline will be “Trump found guilty of treason” and in the text of the article there is nothing that even suggests what the title states. Hell I’ve even seen the text of the article be completely opposite of what the headline is.

So why tf should we trust these dickheads? Anybody with a brain can see through their bs. Their credibility is going to ruin their businesses eventually.

If that's true than this very statement is a construct and therefore you inadvertently just argued for absolute truth
