Zone 6 is where you want to be if you want to get robbed or have your car broken into.

Find an apartment as close to your office as you can. There are lots of nice ones right at Perimeter Center. You don't want to spend time driving if you don't have to. Lots of bars and restaurants in that area.
I agree 100%. Buddy of mine lives in apts on Perimeter Center East and they are extremely nice. Granite countertops, big rooms, etc.

You also have good food and drink nearby. Maggiano's for Italian, Taco Mac for beer selection, there is a sushi/hibachi place, McCormick & Schmicks for seafood - and those are all on or right off Ashford-Dunwoody by the mall.

Just inside 285 off Ashford Dunwoody you have Villa Christina for special occasions. Go a few exits east on 285 and you have extremely authentic Asian and Mexican food choices, although the area is a little sketchier. A couple of blocks west is Roswell Road with a great selection of food as well.

Lots of really nice apartment complexes and condos.

In addition to those mentioned, Chequers, Goldfish, Seasons 52, Uncle Julios, are all good restaurants with active bars in them.

Virginia Highlands is definitely the answer, especially if you find a place within walking distance to highland Ave, which has a good number of bars and restaurants. Buckhead is a shorter commute, but living close to the Highlands, Midtown, Inman Park, little 5, and all the other neighborhoods makes for much better day to day living than Buckhead.

Unless of course you want to live the Tigerland lifestyle at age 26, then Buckhead might be the right place.

What????

Duluth and Lawrenceville are shite holes and you will cuss your existance every day that your stuck on I 85.

OP stay on the 400 corridor. Likely Sandy Springs or Roswell is your best bet. Buckhead is nice to go out but it can get pretty expensive to find a place to live there. Virginia Highlands is regurgitated ghetto. They are cleaning it up, but hipsters are all over the place. The Vortex has a good burger though.

Huh? I think you're mistaking the Highlands with little 5. There are some really nice homes in vahi. It's no different than a neighborhood like Peachtree Hills.

If I was working at Perimeter Center there is no way I would choose to live in Duluth or Lawrenceville and I live just north of there now in Buford. Plenty of nice places to live around Perimeter Mall and lots of activities. I wouldn't live in Buckhead or VH either, too much of a commute for no reason. That entire area around the mall gets extremely congested very quickly. And I think State Farm just announced another huge campus right across from the mall.

For many years I commuted from Buford to that same area and then even over to the Galleria area. But we bought out in this area years ago before the traffic was as bad as it is now, and bought for specific reasons. If you don't have anything pulling you to a certain area I would try to live as close to your office as possible. Spending an hour each way commuting gets old quick unless you are in an area that you just love.

Exactly.

PC may not ultimately be where you end up, but start there since it is close to work.

I just moved to Vinings right at the 75 and 285 interchange. I love it so far. I am in buckhead in 10 minutes, downtown in 15-20 minutes and dunwoody sandy springs area in 20-30 depending on traffic in the evenings

Good grief. Virginia Highlands? Take 285 every day? F that.

If you can afford it live in John's Creek or Sandy Springs. Don't live far from where you work because traffic sucks here. Seriously, traffic is #1. You can take 400 or Marta down to Buckhead easy from there. If you can't afford it you'll probably head toward Cumming (Forsyth county), unless you're black.

There are a number of options you have. Perimeter/Sandy Springs is where I'd start. Vinings wouldn't be terrible. The west midtown and south buckhead/north midtown (collier hills, loring heights) corridors are decent, since you can jump on buford connector and shoot up 400.

I'm in Tucker. Traffic will suck no matter what. Dunwoody isn't a bad area. Brookhaven as well.

They are, I would be working for a real estate company that manages a large fraction of Perimeter Center buildings and land. I heard somewhere that it will be close to 3-4000 employees.

I occasionally have to commute to the perimeter from Virginia Highlands and it can take anywhere from 25-50 minutes. I don't think that's too bad. If you're young and single, you do not want to live up by the perimeter or anywhere otp .

I'm 25 and have lived in Atlanta for a couple years. Check out Buckhead and Brookhaven first. Not too bad of a commute. I prefer Brookhaven.
