Pretty neat. Uses the patient's own stem cells. Has been shown in trials to improve neurological function. LINK

My dad had a similar treatment for his multiple myeloma.

Harvested his own stem cells

Would be great if they could find something. A guy I went to high school just passed away from ALS, he was 54.

Hopefully they can get it under control. It's a disease that can break your heart. Watching a loved one just deteriorate from the inside out. There are diseases that are tough on the family, and some that are just heart wrenching, especially when they don't remember any one who's part of their life like Alzheimer's Disease.

ALS is right there with Alzheimer's Disease as one of the heart breaking diseases.

Good news, hopefully it breaks through and can truly be used to help those with ALS for all the patients.

Alzheimer’s is horrible. I lost my Father to it a few months ago. It was absolutely brutal.

Would be awesome to see Steve Gleason walk without any aid.

Sorry for your loss, you might have it yourself.

How far out is this? I want to see Gleason make some miraculous recovery become a normal human being again.

I looked up the drug and company for a possible investment.

For those interested, it's an very small Israeli company (currently worth 88 million), and the stock is around $4/share.

This is a good cause, so I wouldn't mind buying a few shares since the drug evidently works!
I see that people are complaining that NurOwn isn't FDA approved. What's the hold up? Has the drug not completed Phase 3 yet?

Drugs don't get approved until they complete trials through phase 3 and submit their data.

That’s why I asked if Phase 3 had been completed.
Evidently, not yet.

Also I wasn't seeing any info on actual efficacy, though maybe didn't drill down far enough.

I’m glad people are exploring stem cell treatments. My understanding is that there are RNA based treatments (based out of WashU) which may be closer to the clinic.

My Big Brother in my fraternity passed away in his 30s from ALS. Ran some college track and still did distance running.

My moms boyfriend of many years has this. It’s a horrendous disease and I hope and pray that something comes out to help all who have this. I’ve heard way too many cases of this lately. It’s heartbreaking
