I drive the opposite. Took me 7 hours from Katy to Madisonville. With a 1 hour stop for lunch.

Eh, I left port Allen at 11:15 yesterday and made it home near Sugar Land by 4:00 and that is with a stop to grab lunch in Sulphur.

quote:lol I jumped off at the split before the traffic and took old bridge.
Dumped off at college and went downtown, to the east boulevard westbound onramp. Traffic on the on-ramp was backed up all the way to Government St. Bridge was bumper to bumper

I'm calling BS, that's a 4.5 hour drive on a normal day.

It’s always 4.5 hours like you said. Now, we didn’t stop and eat but we did let the dog walk around and pee, we used restroom, and then went through the drive through. I hit a few pockets of traffic and one reroute off the interstate around traffic before getting off at 146 to 225 and then took the beltway around. Now that I think of it, I think we pulled up to the house at exactly at 4:24. Waze said 4:05 at one point but I forgot it pushed back before getting to Winnie. Still way better than I was expecting and better than most it sounds like. Starting on the west side from the jump was a plus.

If I cant leave at a decent time on Friday I generally say frick it and just leave between 5-6 Saturday morning. On campus before 10 with zero traffic. It is a long arse day though.
Yeah, way too long to be enjoyable IMO, especially if it’s a night game... i’d rather just fight the shitty traffic on Friday, then wake up Saturday morning a couple of miles from campus.

We left Nashville Saturday at 8Am, Hit Houston at 9pm. We blew through BR at 4:30 during halftime of the Iron Bowl which was playing on the iPad in the front seat. Other than almost wiping out at each pick 6, not a bad trip!
Ps.- Everybody knows that stretch sucks on a Sunday after a holiday.

Glad I was headed the other way. I could see the shitshow on the westbound side. Made it from Sugar Land to Madisonville in 5 and 1/2 hours

Why in the world would you take this route instead of I40W to I30W to 59 south in Arkansas?

add in the fact that that stretch of I10 is maybe the most boring, tedious drive in America
You've obviously never driven I65 between Mobile and Montgomery

Don’t feel to bad. It took us 11 hours to get from Orlando to Atlanta yesterday. Almost 3 hours to get from Orlando to Ocala. Apparently, the Sunday after Thanksgiving is the busiest Hwy traveling day of the year.

Waze really fell off over the past year, did the same thing and deleted it. I hated when it would try to have me use the feeder road for half a mile in order to save 1 minute.

I simply use Google Maps with traffic layer turned on every time I'm going to use the interstate to go anywhere. Green is good. Red is Bad.
