If you can control access to porn sites, you can control access to any content.
Given the censorship that government has engaged in recently, I simply can't get on board with this even under the guise of protecting children.
I can protect my children without the help of government.

This is here to stay unless the courts get involved. No politician is going to get up and argue to remove this from the books.

And kids are enterprising and motivated on top of being technologically savvy. They’ll create VPNs and do a workaround. Every generation of kids has found a way to outsmart the authorities and their parents.
