Labor and food cost percentage says hello. If you can't afford the building, and all of the incidentals, that's the Owners ego and stupidity quotient interceding.

How about you go frick yourself. You have no idea what it’s like to be in the service industry right now.

Nobody wants to work because this generation is fricking useless entitled little shits, inflation is through the roof that has gobbled up the thin margins that have already existed. Payroll has gone up which is already the biggest expense. And workman’s comp insurance certainly hasn’t gone down.

Cost of goods? Double it. Styrofoam, paper product, soft drinks. Protein.

If someone isn’t fortunate enough to come from legacy money, then the bank is fricking you on interest rates.

Inventory management is still a nightmare due to “covid” because again, nobody wants to work and companies cant find drivers. Can you operate without getting your deliveries? No? Well you better figure out how because you’re not getting your deliveries on time. Not since 2019.

What about property taxes? Another avenue to get fricked.

And City Alcohol permit. And City Occupational License. And State permit. Is your business in good standing with Sec of State, did you file your yearly report?

Liability insurance. How much do you think that is? It’s not cheap and it’s not static. It’s nearly doubled.

Credit card processing. Nobody wants to pay cash. Want to just give another 4% away just for the frick of it?

So employees are wanting $15 and hour and COG has gone up along with all government fees as well as insurance, you want someone to be able to build a checking account through this and have a nice cushy little rainy day fund for tough times?

So you have two options, raise your prices to compensate and basically price yourself out of the market because, well, Bidenomics are just fricking amazing right now, or you can be in a situation where you can’t miss two weeks of revenue because you will have to close your doors.

If it were really that popular, there wouldn’t be a problem.

It is almost as if being in the most litigious state in the nation has a cost...

I get constant complaints about my menu prices. People need to get used to it as it isn't going anywhere for the reasons you listed

Do they not have business interuption insurance?
Even if they have business interruption it always has a crazy amount of exclusions. It’s almost impossible to collect outside of direct issue like your building burning down.

And since the was the business was just across the street and not directly damaged, I bet they use that as a reason to deny (probably by trying to use the government shutdown exclusion).

Restaurants have a frick ton of overhead.

In this case it’s the overhead from the other building that’s the problem.

Road the Amtrak down to the Sugar Bowl a few years back. Wife and I were away from the kid's for the first time in forever so we pissed away some $ at some pretty decent restaurants. I remember May Pop, Saint John and Tony Mandina’s. I think all 3 are closed now. I cant imagine the bullshite a business owner in New Orleans has to put up with on a weekly basis.

Yea I wouldn’t be shocked to hear like 2/3 of his year runs break even and most of his profits are within limited windows.

I am surprised to hear this week is one of those windows
