Too bad there is a secondary line of protection in the enclosure; it would have been a perfect scenario otherwise!

Investigators in Cumberland County are trying to find a woman who was caught on video going inside a tiger encampment at a zoo in New Jersey. The woman jumped over a fence and seemingly tried to pet one of the tigers. NBC10's Yukare Nakayama spoke with an animal keeper at the zoo about how the tiger seen in the video is a bit more aggressive than the rest.

I support the Tiger’s freedom to eat anyone inside its cage. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

To be honest, that tiger seemed friendly.

Calling the main fence secondary while pretending the 4 ft one chick hopped over did anything is an interesting assessment.

It happened in the late 80s. Let me see if I can remember the story correctly. As I recall there was an LSU employee who was from the Dominican Republic (or someplace nearby) who was having some personal difficulties. I think he worked in facilities. One night things got to be too much for him and he climbed the fence into Mke’s enclosure. This was before his current home was built- it was much smaller and more cage-like with his area enclosed by a fence and then another fence a few feet outside the perimeter of the first.
The guy climbed between the fences and was threatening to climb into the actual main enclosure with Mike. At that time Dale Brown was the bball coach, and apparently had shown kindness to this employee in past interactions. He wanted Coach Brown to come and talk with him and help him. One small issue with that plan. Coach Brown was regularly out of the country either on recruiting trips or on expeditions to find Noah’s Ark or some other adventure (I promise I didn’t make that up). He wasn’t in the country and that made the man even more distraught. What would happen to this troubled soul whose savior wasn’t able to come and talk him down?
Some of you may know the name Jose Vargas. He was a 6’10 center/power forward who had been recruited to LSU from the Dominican Republic on one of those recruiting trips out of the country. Jose was a special kind of player. Nobody ever accused him of having a sweet jumper or playing with Grace and finesse. What he did play with was toughness and sometimes a little anger. To give an example of this off the court, one night Jose got hungry for some fried chicken and went to Church’s just off campus down Highland Road. A guy started messing with him and put his hands on Jose. Not sure what has to be going through your mind to thinking is a good idea to start a fight with a 6’10 guy who may or may not have martial arts training, but here we are. Next thing you know Jose has thrown the guy through the plate glass window and out into the parking lot. That’s who Jose was. Usually a “gentle giant” but don’t mess with him.
Back to the Tiger cage. With Brown unavailable hunting Bigfoot or recruiting from the Soviet bloc nations in Eastern Europe someone had the brilliant idea to find Jose. Turns out that was the right call. Somehow Jose managed to talk the guy down and convince him to leave Mike’s cage.
And that’s the story of how a 6’10 judo trained center who had to learn English to be able to come play for LSU became a hostage negotiator for one night and retired from that endeavor with a perfect record.
