F*** that stupid wh*re. She spoke at the baton rouge rotary club and acted like crime was something she actually gave a s*** about... Fast forward 4 days, and I have two "undescribed suspects" literally running through my neighbor's yard and jumping the backyard fence before they get arrested on goodwood boulevard!

Not the problem! Brave was actually working, and for all his faults race-baiting was never his platform

I believe only one person is dead out of the 4 people shot

The one on Lobdell and the other on Dallas Dr were both deadly out of the four shootings today. Nevertheless, I believe the homicide count for 2022 is at 4 considering the one yesterday was an Officer involved shooting death when the EBRSO served a high risk warrant where the perp shot first at LE.

The BRPD is pretty spread out.
The City of BR has a lot of land to cover versus larger cities that are more compact.
They also do not have the staff to properly be in prevention mode.
All they do is scramble around respond.
Then the judges are on the side of the thugs versus the cops.

As far as BRPD I do not think the leadership is there.
I am also not going to blame the officers for the community voting for leaders that support this behavior.

When the crime starts getting bad in the upper middle class areas and people complain then you will see action.

Well, it’s just about there. An old man got robbed while sitting on his front porch in Oaks Hills. That’s worrisome when you have elderly parents in the area.

I just don’t think I see crime ever getting better in the Northern half of the city. I wish it would, but it’s not. The creep is creeping, as the poster was saying above. Something is changing, we can argue about WHY but not IF it’s happening..

Caused by WalMart

Walmart was a shite magnet back when it was on Perkins where the Trader Joe’s development is now.

You can thank the developer’s attorney Charles Landry for helping ram that through zoning and planning, along with the prior owners of Village Square who allowed it to become a lousy strip mall needing a do-over. There was a lot of opposition to the super Walmart on college, as many could tell the traffic patterns and volume would deteriorate the area. Baton Rouge, however, has pretty much always given in to developers, hence the lack of a grid, the lack of consistent quality with growth, and the perpetual chase for some new trendy location.

College Drive is now garbage. Yes there was the old K-Mart and other vestiges of 60’s/70’s era growth, but better planning should have reverted that to a higher level of commerce. Instead, we got a Walmart, courtesy of people who should know better. Baton Rouge has never suffered from a lack of deal makers and power brokers who hurt the long term prospects of the city in exchange for a small profit.

You can lay that squarely on the shoulders of the gang of thieves known as the City Council and the Zoning Commission, who the developers cozy up to and buy off under the table. It's been that way as long as I can remember.

Baton Rouge planning? What a joke.

It was farcical watching them suggest the proposed Coffee Call And Great Wall relocated to the south side would be “upscale” and that traffic patterns wouldn’t change much.

doubleb is always spot-on about BR, it's politics, and building matters. Back to Work gets it too.

OLOM may need to buy the Ardenwood Apts next door in coming years, if not just for future growth like it has most all of Marquette St houses(as like CHS did with Hearthstone Dr & Westmoreland Village), but also as a buffer/safe zone in removing potential decay and future unknowns?

They have plans to buy everything on Marquette and turn the street into a private drive.
