It's garbage, bro. Anyone can say they pledge their allegiance. You pledge your allegiance in actions. This shite like honoring flags and verbal pledges are hollow gestures to make people who don't actually do anything feel better about themselves.
You want to pledge your allegiance? Go fricking volunteer your time to vets.
So what then? No Pledge of Allegiance? No Star Spangled Banner? Just frick it all? What is wrong with gestures that show our honor for things we respect? You tell me I don't respect my dad and what he did for my country? And that I don't proudly RESPECT the National Anthem when it is played? frick you dick.

Comparing our national anthem to the pledge is just dumb.
This country was just fine for roughly 175 years without the pledge.

I love America but the Pledge is just the government’s attempt at brainwashing and conditioning kids to become sheep who blindly worship the flag and don’t question Uncle Sam.

I’m curious as to what made you think this was good stuff. I dont want to force opinions on you. What did you enjoy/agree with in the video?

You’re a real frickin’ assclown you know that? Your comment that the Pledge is all about “brainwashing kids to blindly worship the flag and don’t question Uncle Sam” is like a slap in the face to every veteran who fought to preserve your freedom. The Pledge is about honoring the symbols of our country while allowing you the freedoms to voice your opinions and yes, question the government and their decisions. I don’t always agree with the government but I know that because I live in America and not in some totalitarian state, I have the freedom to state my point of view and what I believe in. You think honoring our flag is bullshite? Pass that garbage statement to a veteran (especially some of the remaining WWII vets we have left) and see how long it takes before he kicks your arse.

Well, it was the DoI that freed us but it's the Constitution that sustains us. Yes, it limits our freedoms to the boundaries where they meet others' freedoms and vice versa. As it should.
You surely must feel that the DoI doesn't get the recognition that it deserves, much the same way that I feel about the Constitution. That the flag and anthem get so much attention indicates the shallowness of our political culture.

Is this today’s OT thread where our democratic leaning posters can bash other posters for being patriotic and proud to be an American?
Sweet. I’m in.

From somebody that did serve.....you sir are the real as clown and you must have the IQ of under 100. It is the only way to make sense of your garbage understanding of the pledge and its meaning.
quote:and by saying the pledge you are stating that you will stand for behind the american govenment no matter how oppressive it becomes and pledging that you agree that states are not free to choice to disagree with the federal government nor do its citizens have any recourse against the federal government....you know the whole indivisble clause.

quote:Any vetern that can think for themselves, like me, will agree that it is garbage. Any veteran after WWII should also understand that we were used as a government pawn to do their political dealings, not fight for freedom. The only war that was fought for freedom or anything remotely resembling that was the assualt on afganistan. Now the occupation was anything but.

now run along bootlicker.
