You have a contractor plant job with one of the biggest, best paying, least laying off companies in Baton Rouge. Say that outloud.
You need frickin adversity and perspective in your life, you ungrateful punk bitch.

Go on indeed.com and look for operator jobs man. Slinging wrenches for Turner in 106 degree heat all day would make anyone depressed. From there with your college degree you could move up quick with the company.
ETA. Don't be afraid to move west

you know you're in LA when you're supposed to be grateful for working in a plant.

The guys that work for ExxonMobil, Shell etc have good jobs. A lot of them make 100k, have pensions, stock options and can retire relatively young compared to most white collar jobs. It's actually a good career option for someone that didn't go the college route or for those with an English degree. I know several guys that have college degrees but opted for plant jobs.

It's good money and benefits. What's wrong with that in any state?
Posted on 7/18/17 at 10:43 pm to GreatLakesTiger24
What the hell is that supposed to mean

Your hipster sophister schtick gets old.
Dude could parlay that job your looking down your nose at into any white collar professional gig he wanted to if he developed the network and got a degree that was half arse marketable, with the added bonus of graduating debt free.
You yourself have started multiple threads about how the job market is stacked against millennials because field relevant experience is hard to come by, and he's being handed that experience.

I worked industrial surveying while in school. Just stick it out man.
Dont create any big financial burdens for yourself, that way you can take less money later to follow your passion. Save while you can.
I took a 30k paycut to get my foot in the door. 8 years later and im doing great after a few lean years. No regrets.

Yeah I gave you a downvote. I don't like the plants but it is really good money and it is very good economically. There are a lot of jobs in plants no matter what state you're in

Anyways after reading many posts and talking to people my point is, I just hate this job. Am I a lazy person who's never worked hard? No. I've worked hard my entire life and I have given everything I've ever done a 100% effort, including this job. I have never quit anything in life so me quitting is not an easy thing to do. I haven't quit yet but I am really considering it. I've been around the plants my entire life because my dad is an engineer in a plant and is very successful at what he does but this stuff just isn't for me. I'm more of a sports guy and I always have and that's the road I want to go down. Now will I quit and just stop working? No. I have many plans on what to do in case I do decide to quit and I have jobs available if I do quit. It's just something I'm tired of doing now after a few months.

In that case man, since you have another income lined up, I'll tell you like this. Then do it. Be an individual, as long as you are responsible for that individual, then frick everyone else. Look around, this world is full of miserable pricks who get up everyday and do shite they hate, everyday. Then they walk around acting like miserable pricks. I've seen it eversingleyday since I've started working..
When I took that huge pay cut it felt great. I looked around everyday at guys who were stuck, stuck for decades and it showed. Some of them were assholes, some never wanted to quit working because they didnt want to go home.
frick that.

Quitting would not be in your best interest

Taking a paycut for a better opportunity is fine. But this guy is not at a career crossroads. He's fricking building scaffolds or something.
Suck it up for another month. Just remember how bad this sucks and use that for motivation when you don't feel like studying four months from now.

I'll be honest, every time I think I am having a bad day I just remember back to summertime on top of pipe racks... and move on back to my A/Cd desk with youtube and an Xbox. Has brought a lot of perspective to my current career.

You're screwed.
If you had any get-up-and-go coupled with interests/hobbies that were worth a shite, they would have steered you towards a good job after HS.
Congratulations you are now a social leach.
