Never been. Just looking for a place to go other than the beach and it's a relatively short drive. Just looking for something different. Just me & the wife.

Fot those in this thread that obviously dislike Hot Springs, I'm assuming you've been. Please enlighten me on why not to go. Please respond only if you've been there and wtf is so bad about this place.

Arlington Hotel for sure. You'll be close to everything.

I got married while I was in college during the Summer so my honeymoon had to be short and sweet. Went to Hot Springs and stayed at the Arlington. I remember it as being real nice. Did the couples massage, played some golf at the CC, went out on the lake, and beat it back to school. Fast forward 20 years and I have to look at a pipeline around Christmas time a few years back near Hot Springs. Decided to take my wife for old times sake. Damn that hotel sucks arse now but yeah, the bar is still good.

To the OP, Hot Springs is ok but don't hold your expectations high.

Definitely Lake Ouachita. Science museum is ok. Magic Springs if like typical amusement park. Golf at Hot Springs Village.

The town itself is dreadful, feels like it's stuck in the 80s.

To hell with all the dipshits doggin on Hot Springs. Theyve prob never been. Anyway, if you haven't picked a place to stay, I suggest Iron Mountain on Degray. If you wanna go a bit cheaper, stay at the state park at Degray. It is beautiful, and has golf, horseback riding and plenty of lake activities. Pontoons may be rented and the fishing can be good for schoolers that time of year. Magic Springs is a must if you have kids. It has plenty of rides and a nice water park. It usually not crowded esp during a weekday. Check for weekend concerts there also.

As you can tell, I go with the kids. You will have to get info for adults from some of the others. Lake Ouchita is nice also and most of the same activities can be done there also. Hamilton is too busy for my taste. It's more of a younger crowd.

In my life, two words I will probably never use in the same sentence are "Arkansas" and "vacation."

Why the frick would go to Hot Springs for vacation?

Hot Springs is one of my favorite places on Earth. It is an oasis in the desert that is Arkansas.

Give me a weekend at the Arlington and I'm a happy boy.

Hot Springs is great for couples. It's not like Branson or anything like that. Don't let it being in Arkansas fool you. When you are there you do not feel like you are in Arkansas.

I wouldn't worry about his opinion, based on this post I don't think he's ever left South Louisiana.

At Magic Springs they have a concert series for Saturdays. For $10 a seat its not a bad place to listen to some good music IMO. Shows usually start at 8pm

Stay away from Magic Springs, especially on those concert Saturdays. It's too damn crowded. It's miserable.

Stay at the Arlington and get drunk in the ballroom bar.

Stay as far away from Lake Hamilton as possible. The other lakes are nice, rent a boat.

There was a steak and rib place that cooked everything on an open pitt in the middle of the joint, cant remember the name but good meat.

If you are a runner or biker its a great chance to train on elevation.

The thing I love about the Arlington is you can park your car, check in and never have to get back in your car until it's time to go home.

I went to Hot Springs last Halloween and was sorely disappointed. Only went for the weekend and that seemed too long.
Did enjoy Petit Jean State Park and Lake Cathrene though.

The people hating on Hot Springs probably spend the same week every year at the same shitty condo on the same shitty redneck AL/FL panhandle beach every year.

Been several times. Tour the old bath house. Request that you be allowed to wear your life vest when you ride the ducks. Lots of art galleries/shops. Bikers. There is a diner across from the old baths great BLD has a lot of old military/aviation stuff. The track. The theme park. Ozark mountain jubilee......it's good for four days.

It is okay. Good state parks. I liked it enough to see it once.
