This is true. They definitely have a God complex. Doctors, engineers and lawyers all think they’re the smartest man in the room.

The fact that witness reported that the wings were swept back before the crash indicates a pretty major structural failure. Not sure what you can do when your plane breaks up mid-flight.

I saw mention of that in one of the videos. It would seem like he switched off autopilot and was attempting to avoid bad weather. (Thus the climb and change of direction.) Then, attempted to descend when directed by ATC, but having already been at the airframe's rated speed, lost control due to a piece of the airplane failing. At that point he was basically in freefall and the airplane disintegrated.

I feel sad for him and his kids.

At least he didn’t crash on the flight home after picking up the other daughter

Makes sense to me.

Juan Brown pointed out that there's no audio of him asking for weather clearance. If he had ATC might not have put him at a lower altitude. Sad situation all around.

If this guy would’ve had a plane with a deployable parachute, would they still be alive?

Also, if someone would have placed one of those skyscraper jumper inflatables things for him to land on he would be alive

Good question.

Why this guy didn't buy a Cirrus instead of an old Bonanza is beyond me.

I was driving north on I65 just south of Leipers Fork in our Prevost coach at the time of the doctors plane going down. We had pulled into a rest stop because of violent wind gusts on the ground blowing our 55,000 lb coach all over.
Can’t believe he flew into that front.

My former CEO had a Cirrus SR22 that he and I would fly in regionally. Mainly from Atlanta to Raleigh, Nashville, or Orlando. A couple of trips to Austin with a bathroom break in Mississippi. He was instrument rated but would never fly at night or near bad weather. Sitting in the co-pilot seat, all I wanted to know in case he stroked out in flight was what to do to prepare to release the parachute and how to communicate with local ATC. I felt he had me prepped enough to deploy the parachute but with my luck I would have dropped down in a lake, on a house, a highway, or some power lines.

So sad. Prayers for the family.

Back in the early 70s I had 20 hours toward my PPL and a mere 11 solo when my finance told me it was either flying or her.

It was an easy decision. I dug flying but I think I wasn’t really cut out for it. Was not great at landings because I hated using flaps. Lol. A wise decision as well.

My best friend took lessons with me. Four years later he flew into a thunderstorm near Beaumont, killing himself and three others.

I swore off riding in private planes smaller than a King Air.

My wife gave me that ultimatum over my motorcycle. Was a good run while it lasted but wasn't going to give up riding.

I always wonder why all small planes don't have this.

Most planes are older, cirrus is the best selling general aviation plane for sale now so you will have more of that available but only in new aircraft most people like the doctor aren’t buying new.

Flying Crosscountry without an ATC flight following is pretty unforgivable IMO.

Was your cousin an insurance agent? If so, I knew him in college. Nice guy.
yes, well known community leader also. And yes he was a great guy. He was older than me and my role model growing up

Unfortunately he was not instrument rated and got himself in a situation he could not handle
