If any of y'all wound like to go flying sometime I recently bought a Bonanza. Only Hanger space I've found so far is in Gonzales

If it was a student pilot is it wrong to assume IFR training? That's why they were flying after dark?

That's what I'm asking. I'm not a pilot but I do know some of the process of getting your certifications. Just wondering what part of training do you fly after dark?

there are some night flight instruction/solo requirements for getting a private pilot license, and some night currency requirements after you get that license to be legal to carry passengers

Exactly. For VFR certification you have to have 3 hours night flight and 10 full stop landings. But when my instructor and I were planning those flights, we were very particular with moon phase and weather. We wouldn't have picked last night.
Regardless, it's a tough situation all around.

If it's a night tour it wa their twin engine Piper.

My first night landing was my first solo. I had to hold a pattern for a really long timebecause of coast guard operations nearby. By the time I was cleared it was dark.
My third ever landing without an instructor and it was at night. My FI fudged the time on the logbook though so it wouldn't show as a night landing.

The pilot was a buddy of mines uncle. They still haven't pulled the plane out from my knowledge to recover the two still in the plane. I know they are dead, but taking over 4 days to get them out is a little ridiculous.

sorry to hear that, I used to know a lot of the pilots at FA.
Sad. Heard the story too. Man was afraid of flying, his GF bought him this aerial tour to get over the fear, and the plane crashes and supposedly he drowned trying to save her.
Just sad.
