He took off to the southwest. Started the turn and went down.

VFR rated pilot flying into IMC and losing the plot. See JFK JR. Happens more often than you would think.

If you’re ultra conservative flying can be a lot of fun as a hobby, I guess, but when it comes down to nut cutting time you’d better have your shite together, pilots don’t get paid for routine shite, we get paid for performing when the shite hits the fan

As a pilot, you must be amused with this thread.

Hard to believe Biggs lost that airplane in only one minute. According to NTSB that's how long that aircraft was in flight.....one minute. He (Biggs) surely must have been dealing with some catastrophic system failure.......maybe instrument failure, or he hit a flock of geese, or even contaminated fuel.

I mean it's not like he was flying another airplane.....after all he was experienced flying this particular airplane.

We'll just have to let NTSB sort all this out.

Same with river boat pilots.

I dated a girl 10 or 15 yrs ago whose entire family (father, grandfather, three brothers ) were all riverboat pilots and were all making $450k per year each (not a typo, and probably each making over half million per yr now)... This was their rationale as well.. still that’s a whole lot of money...

Haha, nope- just the opposite, i did better.

That’s not even counting the fact that the girl was total psycho raving lunatic bitch and we couldn’t go 5 minutes without her starting drama... But, i will admit that, of course- it was the best sex i ever had.

Everything I have read/heard is he took off on 22L (not 4R).

or find somewhere to put it on the ground safely

This article says “A witness with pilot experience indicated the plane's landing gear had been retracted.”

Not sure if that means the gear was retracted on impact or if the witness saw the plane in the air with the gear retracted.
