You should enlist in the National Guard. Or better yet, lobby your elected officials to commission a citizen militia (since we’re so concerned about constitutional language), sign up, and register your weapons so that they may be well regulated (more fun constitutional language!).

The US Supreme Court disagrees with your interpretation.

Because this is America, and if I want an rifle, then I'll go get a rifle. It's not to look badass, or feel badass, it's for self preservation.

This gets brought up all the time, but self preservation from what? Other people with guns? The police? A military take over?

One would be delusional to think any amount of guns could protect themself from a police force, the army, or any other militarized force.

So what you're saying is you feel the need to have a gun because other people have guns and the answer is to allow more people to have less restricted access to guns?

We should let people have nukes because if you take them away they will just find another way to kill. Also it's not fair a terrorist could have some old lost Soviet nuke, but I would not have a nuke to defend myself with.

nukes aren't covered because they cant be used in self defense without killing yourself lmao. read up

A poor craftsman blames his tools.

Been like this forever, is like this today and will be like that forever.

My point is the end game is not just to take away "assault rifles" but to eventually take all the guns. I'm not a paranoid conspiracy theorist either, I just see the writing on the wall with the progressive left. The bottom line is the root cause of these shootings is mentally ill people.

Sure they can. You just need to retreat like a couple miles and tell the other guy to stand still for a few minutes.

This is a silly attitude. At this point it's a matter of convenience if one uses this term.

We all KNOW what firearms he is referencing. It is NOT just scary looking, it is not simply semi-auto. It is the high powered, large capacity magazine that one rarely if ever sees a hunter with.

Don't parse the words to score some internet victory.

You mean a rifle that looks scary?

That's exactly what I mean. Your standard hunting rifle is just as useful to your everyday person. Why not buy that instead without the baggage of the military-style one?

Unless you are a hunter, a rancher, a police officer/military, or a cowboy in a traveling roadshow, how is a gun a tool?

So you are saying I'll need medium to long range bombers and/or ICBMs as well? It's not fair I can't have these things, I like them and I must have them regardless of the unintended consequences

Homosexuality has been a part of human history for centuries though. Greeks and Romans were sucking each other like they were vacuum cleaners.

This is about culture and morality change in our society

If you teach rights above responsibility you get this.

Emphasize rights and you get rebellion

Prioritize personal responsibility- that is what we need to return to... Many of the problems we have today are festering from moving away from our old moral and value base

We have lost core values as a society and parents want to blame everything on someone else.

Most disturbed children are a result of their environment and upbringing. Yes there are a very small minority with chemical imbalance- but this is much smaller than the world would have you believe

Then use the real terminology. "ban the scary looking ones"

Don't try to hide behind "assault rife" or "military style" to make your position sound better.

This is well-known and documented. Like some things in the Constitution it MAY BE obsolete. At this juncture, what good would assault rifles do anyone if the military marched on the citizens? Given the fire power that the government has would ar-15s really matter?
You're wrong on this point.

Serious Question for all AR-15 baws.
I'm not sure what capacity magazines you have but lets just say you have a 30RD. Now from Columbine to yesterday if just one kids life was spared because you could only own a 25RD mag would you be willing to give up that 30RD freedom?
If yes, that is a form of gun control that can be accomplished...its a step. If no, then there is no meeting on the middle in your soul.

And FWIW I am a gun owner and do not back banning all firearms.

Absolutely. And mental health is something in this country we bury our heads in the sand about as well. But if I can limit their access to more dangerous and harmful weapons, then I will do so.

Just honest answer - if you would find yourself or one of your loved ones in a school shooting scenario, would you rather the shooter have a fully automatic weapon, an AR 15 or a handgun?
