It is an old arse drug.

It hasn't been thoroughly tested and proven to be an effective drug for COVID-19. You know that. Yes, the FDA has given its blessing for doctors to administer it, and many hospitals are doing clinical trials on it. There are certainly some promising results, but it's not to a point where it's responsible for the president to stand in front of the nation and tout its effectiveness.

Why not?

All he ever said is it may or may not work and he feels good about it.

It is asinine that he can’t give any semblance of hope to the American people.

I've never pretended to be reasonable. I think Trump is a shitstain of a human being and an awful leader and president, and will call him out on it whenever I feel it necessary.

You're going to find something to blame on him regardless of outcome. Maybe you should actually try to think independently for once in your life.

Exactly.

I think Trump has done an awful job with backing away from his “Easter reopening” push, but their derangement about everything is the characteristics of a petulant child.

Oh, and I don’t think Hydroxychloroquine is going to work out well, but attempting to give hope seems to be the worst thing Trump can do to these individuals.

The ones who start every question with “you said” or “you previously said” are the worst. Ask a damn question, and for the love of god they actually need to listen to the press conference. The questions about stuff that has already been answered are getting out of hand. ie “You said there are xx cases in x city. Can you clarify what you mean by xx cases in x city?”

This is how I feel. Give people hope. We have enough dire doomsday predictions about the virus and climate change.

Half the world has been conditioned to both and blame others for their own shortcomings and the results are a disaster.

We need more sunshine and less doom. But doom sells to the weak minded.

Because they've drawn partisan lines and stand on their side of it no matter what.

It's good enough to be prescribed by physicians all over the world, right?

Is there a more common drug being prescribed to treat COVID? Is there a more effective drug?

If COVID is effective and it saves lives (not necessarily 100% effective), then the President mentioning it will go down as the single most impactful action to save lives.

I realize that hurts your feelings.

Couple o' thoughts:

1) The media does not control the raw statistics published which can be obtained through the state or feds. Whether people choose to get that info filtered from CNN, Fox, kooky OAN, or whatever, is their own problem and not a problem of access to straight up facts.

2) Both the national media and Trump are equally douchey in the press conferences.

- also -

3) Re: 'give them hope' -- you all are a bunch of sunshine pumpers.

Beats the alternative.

You're really going to be pissses if this doesn't turn into the disaster you hoped.

Also, also, you all are underselling how much Trump is doubling down on hydroxychlorquine. It's one thing to say 'give it a try, what can you lose,' (which is arguably a fairly misguided way of talking about a drug) but it's another when he says it is, and I quote, "a gift from heaven." That's just kooky.

What he should say is: "We're seeing some promising anecdotal evidence that hydroxychlorquine can help prevent people from experiencing the more serious and fatal effects of the virus. We're working on securing more of it to allow doctors to prescribe it as they deem medically appropriate and look forward to more positive results." Sadly, he doesn't have anything in the way of a decent speechwriter and his non sequitur observations often go off the rails.

Yet my actual posts don't bear that out, that's just your own tainted narrative. But I've learned that people like you aren't interested in objective evidence.
