Do you get drug tested often or something?

I've been to Denver and SF this year and loaded up each time.

What's wrong with field sober test? I mean some people have stronger tolerances.

Is there gonna be a legal limit or if it shows up you're under the influence?

Green is nothing compared to alcohol. No way you can justify alcohol being legal and not weed. Especially with it's medicinal attributes. Legalize it across the board already.

Hopefully. It should be no different than alcohol. Go home after work and do what you want in your private residence. As long as you don't show up to work impaired, you should be fine.

I think some sort of test, like this breathalyzer, that can show current impairment will help with this.

Man that would suck. It's such bullshite.

See how dumb you sound?

Actually, I agree with that too. I don't want alcoholics working for me. Poor choices lead to addiction. Addiction speaks to character and character is what determines the quality of an employee.

If you can't give up booze and weed to keep a job, you probably are easily replaceable.

You can't get addicted to weed though.

If someone wants to have a beer or wine or smoke a joint or eat an edible when they get home, they should be able to. Provided it doesn't affect work and they don't show up impaired.

I don't like the government or corporations dictating what I can do in the privacy of my own home, with the exception of things that cause harm to others.

What?

So if alcohol metabolites stayed in your system for 30 days, your employer should have a right to know how much you drank at the LSU-UT game and fire you over it? Even if you are able to fulfill your employment obligations

I believe you may want to rethink your statement.

Eta: employers could write that into the contract and I don't see anything wrong with that as long as the employee completely understands what that means. Otherwise a broad statement such as an employer deserves the right to know what you do with LEGAL substances in your free time is asinine

I think it’s silly that you could go to a state where it’s legal, enjoy it legally, then come back home and a month later lose your job.

something doesn’t have to be against the law to be a fireable offense.

No one said otherwise.

But in this case, weed is prohibited by employers because it's illegal.

I fell into this situation arse backwards. Never got drug tested when I started because they needed me fast and I had several people I worked with vouch for me to the owner. Been a year now and I still haven't been tested, and I work in the office. I started smoking pot again regularly for the first time since I started working at 20. It is glorious. I basically quit drinking, have lost 15 lbs this summer (munchies are easy to ignore & they go away). I am more relaxed, happier, and feel better. Best thing that ever happened to me, honestly.

I hope I work here forever. Great pay, good benefits, and I can toke it up at night when I go home.

in most places, that may be true, but not always.

i’ve worked at places that prohibit use of prescription painkillers. even if they are your perfectly legal and legit prescription.

it’s because of insurance companies looking for a way out of paying claims, not because of legality.

you in an accident, or hurt at work, etc they’ll use anything they can to remove liability from themselves.
including any testable drug out there (legal or not).

i know enough people that willing ruin anything else in their lives to keep smoking that i’ll never believe it’s not addictive.

Yeah the people go to extremes on everything.

It isn't chemically addictive as in your body craves it but it can be mentally addictive the same way gambling is.

I do know plenty of lazy potheads. Even so, that shouldn't be used against all people who want to use pot. There are a lot of drunk drivers that kill people, should we ban liquor? A lot of people go bankrupt because of gambling, so should we shutter the casinos?

There are people right now who get high on Tetrafluoroethane (canned duster, also R134a refrigerant) should we ban car air conditioning and refrigerators??

People are using ridiculous straw men to keep this plant illegal. Even after numerous medical benefits have been proven.
