Pit Bull killed Sunday after attacking a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy

The owner of the pit bull that was killed Sunday after attacking a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy has been identified as a 51-year-old Acreage resident, authorities said.
John Michael Depperman was arrested on charges of resisting arrest. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on his own recognizance early Monday, jail records show.
The deputy attacked by the dog was taken to a hospital for multiple bite wounds on his body, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. The sheriff’s office had not identified the deputy as of 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies responded to an Exxon gas station in Royal Palm Beach, at Okeechobee and Royal Palm Beach boulevards at about 5:30 p.m Sunday for reports of a man down, the sheriff’s office said.
When deputies tried to talk to the man, he began to fight the deputies. The man’s dog then began to attack, according to the spokeswoman.
The deputy fired his gun at the dog, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

I’m actually going to blame the owner for this one. I would hope any good dog would attack someone who is attacking it’s master.
