There is about a bazillion pipelines over there in that area.

Pipeline construction is actually my occupation and I have spent most of my
career installing pipelines in this area. It looks like the fire is on a Centerpoint corridor. I have not heard whose line it is or the product yet. Right now it is just damage mitigation but those corridors have numerous pipelines in them laid parallel to each other with most having highly explosive shite in them so if one blows, they literally all could blow.

My guess is something or someone hit the pipeline causing a rupture.

LNG line.

Not natural gas, liquefied natural gas. Not 100% sure but probably ethane.

Speculation of a vehicle hitting a station valve.

ETA: if true it's probably a company vehicle.

Poor Matt with Easton. I bet he wishes he could go back to bed. I bet his phone hasn’t stopped ringing.

I know Easton bought a lot of Williams assets the last several years and we actually bid on a new lay for them off 225 in Pasadena about 2 years ago. I think it was a 6”.

I think this is an Energy Transfer station off the Easton pipeline.

The fire is located were the on the words "Hwy". The Easton pipeline is running diagonally though Gringo' Mexican Kitchen.

From the texags thread about this...

Interesting....I just read an article about Energy Transfer yesterday. The owner (CEO? Owner?) just filed a lawsuit that is going to bankrupt the US arm of Greenpeace. Over the Dakota pipeline protests. The article said he will almost assuredly win and bankrupt Greenpeace in the US and deliver a big blow to Greenpeace globally.

Coincidence????

Just an FYI, from the link in the OP:

quote:

A pipeline fire near Spencer Highway and Summerton has caused major disruptions in La Porte. The incident, affecting a 20-inch natural gas liquids pipeline, was reported this morning.

Energy Transfer, the pipeline operator, has confirmed there are no injuries. The operator says the pipeline has been isolated to allow the chemical Y Grade NGL (liquid natural gas) to safely burn off. A timeline for this process is not yet available.

The information I posted about Easton Pipeline came from the National Pipeline Database. The data is probably not up to date and apparently now Energy Transfer owns the asset.

Also just an FYI, Y grade NGLs is a mixture of ethane, propane, butane, iso butane and some natural gasolines.

You are right.

I wonder if the driver made it out alive?

You are right. In all my years, a normal work car would not be burned and all four tires would not be falling off.

After hearing this was an ETC 20” and looking at the map I started to have a sneaking suspicion so I called a buddy at ETC to confirm. This was a pipeline that I was a PM over the construction of back in 2012. We installed it from roughly Manvel, TX all the way into Lonestar in Mont Belvieu, TX. We were on Exxon Corridor from I-45 all the way to Spencer Street and then on Centerpoint Corridor from there to the ship channel where we crossed into Baytown.

Damn it could have been me.
