LSU Geology Camp during the summer between his junior and senior year, so he had to go out to Colorado for the camp the summer after he had completed all his course work. I have probably a hundred Kodachrome slides from his six weeks out there.
What year was this? I might have pictures of your dad when my dad went to camp. I probably have a hundred slides too. I still have the pick axe he brought up there.

I believe it was summer 1954. Lod Cook was a student then as well and is in a couple of the photos I have.
In the lobby of the Geology Bldg (Howe-Russell Hall) when I was a student, there was a cast of a T-Rex skull on display. There were a few photos displayed nearby that showed the T-rex skeleton being excavated from a sedimentary layer in Utah that summer. Several students from the LSU Geology camp were there observing and I could pick Dad out from the group by his posture and the olf Stetson had that he always wore. Needless to say, I always enjoyed getting to my geology lectures a little early.
Photo below is the LSU Geology Camp students and staff from 1954. Dad is in the back row directly under the deer skull wearing his favorite Stetson. Lod Cook is front row tending to the camp's official dog mascot. I had scanned this one a while back and would have to dig through innumerable boxes to find the original photo again with the names of everyone listed on the back.

My dad was there in either 55 or 56 and has a similar group picture. I will try and look for the pic this week.
