I like Ted Lewis, even though he had a creaky style on the clarinet, and his cultivated showbiz persona was pure hokum. He nonetheless did hire some good musicians and have a good band during his main heyday. Made some good records, like "Jungle Blues" (1928), by which time he'd pretty much deferred soloing to his sidemen. Even by the early-1940s, when his band appeared in an Abbott and Costello movie, Lewis was already almost considered a 'nostalgia' act from the distant past. Probably similarly received (and warmly so) by this time in 1950s New Orleans.

Laugh In comes on Decades Tv, now called Catchy Tv, on weekend mornings, it’s crazy how bad it was. I have no problem laughing at humor in different times, but I guess the humor back in the 60’s was completely different…

Terrible take. You probably also think believe Caddyshack 2 is better than the first?

it's been a long time since I've seen it but I think a lot of the humor was based on knowing current events, Vietnam, war, Watergate, etc., lots of double entendre, satire, similar to the Smothers Brothers, a lot of that sailed over a lot of the audience
