Found this one digging around through family photos. My great-grandfather was a riverboat captain and master pilot on the Mississippi from St. Louis to Baton Rouge, and the Ohio from Cairo, Ill to Paducah, Ky. He piloted the old steam powered stern wheelers.
Caption was written by my grandfather when he was probably around eleven or twelve years old in 1912 or 1913.

This one of my grandfather in 1920. He had just won the light weight Southeastern US boxing championship and looks to be worn out.
He didn't fight again after this and relinquished his title to another after a few months. Said he preferred spending time in the swamps cutting timber for Mengel & Brother Co. rather than getting hit by people.
I believe this took place in Memphis, but I'm not certain.
Hope y'all don't mind me posting some personal old photos in this thread from time to time.

This a great photo. Keep em coming. I have old photos of my dads family from way back but no inscriptions. And nobody left who can ID. Dammit!

1932. Another ad from the era when companies campaigned to make airplanes everyday consumer items like automobiles. The FAA would soon kill this idea.
